We drove by & saw plenty of cars, so we stopped! This is the cleanest Mexican restaurant that we have ever been to! The food had great presentation & the taste matched it! Although it took a while to get our food, it was well worth the wait! Excellent food!!!

We had Fajitas & Quesadillas. Home made nachos & salsa are provided at no charge. This was a nice feature not we found salsa too watery and nachos to 'hard'. Fajitas were freshly made but not overly tasty. Beef was cut in larger pieces rather than strips and 'tough/chewy'. Quesadillas were nicely prepared and tasty.

I like coming to this place when we are in town because the buffet includes menudo. It is a little pricier than ordering a regular bowl from the menu, but I think it is better and you can also have other items like chilaquiles, tamales, mini chimis, etc. Service is usually OK but this time they did neglect our drink... We had were looking for a different restaurant when we came across Los Portales. Tired and hungry from traveling we decided to stop in. Best decision ever! The food was amazing. The waitstaff and menu was bilingual. The salsa was good, but hot. So, be prepared for that. The atmosphere was bright and festive. There was no mariachi band that... More

Because of this special day, we invited a bunch of family and arrived at the doorstep by noon, anxious and hungry. We were told by phone the day before that Mariachis would be playing from 11 to 2 but informed no, they had been gone since 10 am. Not to worry because of the great buffet awaiting, NOT: cold menudo,... More

Best flour tortillas I have ever eaten! The food and drinks were excellent the waitstaff are bilingual and genuinely friendly. A mariachi band serenaded couples while we ate. Overall, though this is not the nicest part of town, I would recommend any locals or visitors to head south and check this place out!

Most of the food is above average Mexican, but the mole was much too sweet with no spice. Would not recommend. Salsa was excellent and Margaritas were average. It was not crowded but service was very slow. I think only one server for too many tables. Was expecting well-above average food based on the slowness of the kitchen, but that... More

We decided to try Mexican food for Sunday midday and wow that was fun! We arrived to a very busy restaurant and were greeted and seated immediately. Chips, Salsa with iced tea arrived shortly after. The Marachi Band was singing loudly. Now, normally I want to flee when a Marachi Band wanders by. I just don't know what to do... More

These guys just know how to make salsa. we've had salsa all over this town & many, many others. If you're craving the best...Los Portales knows it & throws it. This & a shrimp Bruchetta? Heaven. Best Tortillas in town too...
