We came here on a friend’s recommendation and weren’t disappointed by the food, which was fine. My mom (who spent months in Honduras) really enjoyed the mole selection. We had a fine experience, and then the next day came. My father (who has a grease...sensitive stomach) had a serious stomach ache and we all had some serious gas. As I said, fine food, frequent flatulence.More

The staff was really helpful and friendly! The restaurant is just a few meters from the Machu Picchu bus depot and close to the rail station. The menu has vegetarian and non-alcoholic options. It’s easy to get to and has a chill vibe for lunch.

Amazing food, great service! The Papino margarita was amazing and fresh. The chicken quesadilla had savory, yummy chicken with a perfectly grilled tortilla

We went around 3:30 and it was immediate seating. The salsa was so best thing about the meal and the chips were salted/crispy. I am not sure if I was hungry or the salsa made me look like an addict, it was worth the experience....The Carne Asada Burrito had good flavor, but would have like a sauce because the burrito was dry inside. The service was normal, had to request items a few times before receiving them. Would go back for the salsa and something different with a sauce.More

Food was so delicious that we went there twice during our ski trip stay in SLC. All dishes were fresh and authentic, the staff were wonderful, and we liked the real Mexico vibe. Highly recommend their mole sauces, fish tacos, and fajitas. We’ll definitely come...back to Red Iguana when in SLC again.More

Authentic Mexican food; mole sauces were great. Can’t go wrong here. Get there early otherwise you’ll wait. Service was excellent.

Great food and authentic atmosphere. Server explained the menu and it did not disappoint. Large portions. Plenty of off street parking.

I read reviews about bland food and not living up to the hype. I’m so glad I didn’t let those discourage us from eating here. I loved every bit of the experience! Husband and I stopped for dinner on Saturday night in our drive through...SLC. We’re driving halfway across the country on a tight timeline, but try to stop for one real meal each day. Yesterday was Red Iguana. Found it after searching “must eat SLC” and reviewing a few lists. Waited 40 minutes for a table, which was to be expected and totally worth it. Service was just right; timely but not pushy. Got two different margaritas and both were great. Chips were nice and salty. We tried 4 of the moles and loved every single one of them (P.S. - I LOVE mole!)! Tacos Don Juan were so flavorful and filling. Carne asada burritos were stellar. I will definitely be talking about this place for years to come, and will definitely be back on my next visit to SLC.More

Our visit was 6 August 2023 during a business trip with a total of 6 of us. My dish was the Gringas and Iced Tea. The restaurant was a referral by one of the people in our group. The food was great, we all enjoyed...our plates. Place is small but long in length. We did have to wait 20 minutes to get in. Staff were pleasant and professional. The location was clean. We enjoyed our first dinner on our business trip. Would visit again. This location was crowded so not many pictures because I don’t like to included others out of respect.More

Owned by Lucy Cardenas and founded by her parents Red Iguana is so popular it's spawned a second location plus the more upscale Blue Iguana, yet no matter which location residents or visitors choose the consensus is that there’s no better place for Mexican Food...in Utah. Self appointed “Killer Mexican Food that’s worth the wait,” though the concept is largely Tex-Mex including combination plates featuring three or more items, it is at 736 W N Temple that the original Restaurant still resides as a low-slung spot with parking on the side. Covered with stickers at the door, a man at the podium confirming reservations or quoting wait times, it is inside that diners will find vibrant colors and pleasant service with Water poured quickly and a bowl of complimentary Chips plus Salsa soon to follow. Offering a number of Classics, the Sour Cream Chicken Entomatada with Tomato Sauce rightfully praised by many, fans of Tacos will find “a la Iguana” as Shredded Beef beneath Jack and Guac while a Tostada eats like Mexican Pizza complete with Olives and Beans. Also known for Mole, six styles including Pumpkin-based Pipian offered daily as plates, a la carte by the ounce or to-go, Negro eats deep and earthy without the sweetness that many north of the border feel necessary while Mole Coloradito is smoky, nutty and medium-hot. Part of the SLC dining scene since 1985, though the Cardenas’ legacy dates back two decades further, Dessert features inspired takes on tradition ranging from Flan to Fried Ice Cream, though the best choice is an individually portioned Tres Leches soaked by sweetened Milk and rife with Cinnamon.More

Went 3 years ago and it was amazing. Went again this year, ordering the exact same things. Chips were stale and food was mediocre. But still had great service and got some great Mole to go.

Delicious Mexican food near the airport. Popular spot with locals and tourists. Ask for the mole sampler (free) and try all the different tasty moles. Tortilla chips are freshly fried in house. Corn tortillas made fresh daily. Drinks are also really good. Had the Tacos...don Ramon (3 hard shell tacos with a variety of meats) which was good but even better was the Puntas a Filete de la Norteña (sirloin tips with bacon, jalapeño, onion, tomatoes). Takes reservations.More
