Sort of weird to say that I know, but my 11 year old daughter and I enjoyed this SO much. I booked the lunch with chocolate tour. The food was fantastic! The tour guide, it was just us and him, really educated us on the process of making the chocolate from the pod growing on the plant all the way... More

The brownies are pretty good but the meal that we had there was not that great. Very salty. The facility is very nice and so are the people that work there.

My wife and I went on the chocolate tour which was quite interesting and delicious. A great experience which I would highly recommend if you are in Mindo.

I ate breakfast and dinner here for 17 days, as I stayed nearby. This kitchen puts out wonderful organic food and allows modification. Service is outstanding and friendly. In addition to making great chocolate, El Quetzal also makes ginger beer and other products. I loved the ginger syrup in my yogurt/granola in the morning. The granola contains home-made cocoa nibs.... More

Every time I visit Mindo, I eat at least 2 brownies from El Quetzal. If nothing else, get a brownie to go. That being said, both lunch and dinner are really good as well. I recommend the Cacao chicken, yukka fries, and ginger beer, as well as the brownies of course.

Ate here several times last year and this year. Trout, tilapia, and the shrimp casserole (it is translated as peanut butter but the flavor does not dominate) are reliable standards. Ginger beer also enjoyable on a hot afternoon. Patio seating front and rear. Take home some barbecue sauce from the little shop.

Took the hour long Chocolate tour for $10 and was quite impressed with it. Myself and a friend had a personal tour minutes after asking for one. They go over everything in the chocolate making process, from the cocoa trees (which were shown), to the seeds (including tasting them), to the fermenting process, the roasting process, all they way to... We had a great soup lunch, topped by a fantastic brownie that we shared. My husband raved about the chocolate shake and insisted that we make that a mid-afternoon treat two more times. Excellent hot chocolate and carrot cake as well, though a little more pricey than some places in town. Obviously worth it or we wouldn't have come back.... More

We went here specifically for the chocolate tour which was a real eye opener in terms of the manufacturing and processing of chocolate. Getting to sample the chocolate from its raw form to the flavours possible by the addition of various spices and ingredients other than sugar was a real eye opener. As we were only here for the chocolate... More

Quickly became my favorite restaurant in this town. Loved the chocolate tour and after just started eating here. The coffee is great and avaliable earlier than most other places. Lunch and dinner both very good. Excellent trout, good sandwiches and of course the chocolate. The owner is very friendly and has a great staff. Will get to eat there again... More
