I was looking for a place to take my mum for lunch and this came recommended. I thought it would be a little traditional for her, a little hip for me, but it was overall just disappointing. My chicken salad sandwich tasted like tuna salad-the gross kind of tuna salad with pickle relish in it. Yes, the sandwich was overstuffed,... More

We couldn't get a reservation for Volt (waited too long), so we decided to try Family Meal. I really like the idea, family food with a special touch. Our salmon with farro was wonderful. It had a lot ght and silky sauce. Good salad to begin. The wine list was good; we would have appreciated more regional selections. There were... More

I had time to kill in Frederick while my wife worked so I thought I'd look for a local "diner" to linger over breakfast and read the paper. Family Meal sounded dinerish so I headed out. The location was right for a local diner - an older commercial area, but the building was boxy with lots of glass. Almost like... More

Visited with friends after some brewery hopping. We shared duck fat fries and Mac and cheese which were tasty. I had mussels and liked them very much but wanted more of them. My friends got meat loaf and fried chicken and said both were really good. Bustling atmosphere, modern dining room. Service was excellent. 30 minute wait even after 9... More

The owner is touted as a Top Chef runner up. We figured that they must know how to make an interesting meal. So, we stopped in for breakfast. We were greeted by a friendly, but standard east coast brusque server. I think that they must get a negative reaction a lot from tourists passing through, because after we ordered (and... More

Great, clean gem. Enjoyed duck fat potatoes, pastrami, mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts salad were delish! Would pass on the Cubano next time.

This is the 2nd celebrity chef restaurant I've been to and both visits have been a disappointment. Overpriced, oversalted, over hyped.

We've been to the Family Meal several times since they opened, very busy every time, including week nights. We've tried just about everything on the menu and it's all good! Maybe their best dish is their burger! Have very creative and excellent desserts!

Really really good food! Fried chicken was perfectly cooked and portions were generous, great house made pickles and biscuits, with spicy dipping sauce on the side. Try the chicken pot pie fritters appetizer! Great home cooking, quick and friendly service. A bit noisy when busy (lots of hard surfaces reflect noise) but interesting atmosphere and lots of free parking.

My wife and daughter and I ate breakfast here recently. I ordered the eggs any style where I received bacon and a sausage link. I also ordered a side of home fries. My daughter ordered the same thing. My wife had the omelet with a side of bacon. I ordered my eggs over medium. Even if they would have come... More
