My Favorite Atlanta Restaurant

On 11-23-19 I took my friends (including a British couple) to Nicola's for Mediterranean fare (open only from 5:30 to 10:00p.m., Wed-Sun). Nick, the owner, always greets everyone coming in as though each was entering his home living room. He never meets a stranger. Jovial, good-hearted, dancing, serving, Nick always has an eye on his staff and assures each customer of the best in food and service. At 8:00 p.m. he begins the entertainment: a belly dancer, even his waiters coming out to dance on occasion, and he leads all the patrons, elderly and children and all in between in vigorous circle dancing (Mediterranean style: image Zorba the Greek and you've got it.) My British friends were ready to go, and he called the dancer to come in 30 minutes early, staring the entertainment so that they would not miss the best part of the evening. He took the hand of my friend while her husband videotaped with his phone, and led her into the center of the "patron-dance". Our host couple vowed to return for his upcoming 50th birthday! His favorite on the menu was the falafel. My favorite is the hummus. Nick also treated our table with complementary Baklava, a piece for each of us (6 of us). Go, you will not be disappointed.

Some of the Best!

My husband and I got take-out from Nicola’s while visiting w our daughter in the area. Our daughter recommended it, so I thought we’d give it a try. We ordered the mezza plate for one and the eggplant dish (comes w rice). We decided we would share both. First of all, the flavors were amazing! The baba was creamy and had a smoky, garlic flavor; the tabouli tasted fresh and with a great lemony flavor. The falafel was flavorful, not bland like many other we have tried. The Mediterranean salad was great too! The portions on the mezza platter were definitely large enough for two. The eggplant was delicious and the portion was huge! It was certainly more than most individuals could eat. It came w basmati rice and, again, the portions were huge! The eggplant was mixed with ground beef, feta, tomato sauce and nuts. Very good! It did seem to have a lot of sodium. When we go back to ATL, we will go back to Nicolas. Yum!!!

We enjoyed the food very much but it was the entertainment that really sells us on this restaurant. It was like having dinner with someone else’s fun family! Be sure to go on a weekend night when you will be entertained by wonderful belly dancer and a very spry 75-year-old. I imagine the 75-year-old is entertaining every night! And the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Was looking for middle eastern food and based to TA’s reviews wanted to try this place. Was excited to go but disappointed to find it Closed on a Thursday at 7PM! I’m not sure if they’re permanently closed or just something. Before you drive all the was there to find an empty parking lot I’d call first.

Hint: Parking could be a challenge, but there is a business next door and a church across the street that are closed in the evening. Open just for dinner. Great place for parties!!! Owner goes beyond with making his guests feel welcome. Food: I liked the appetizers the best. Service: Excellent Space: Not a huge restaurant, I would suggest a reservation. It gets busy. Good: Rent the entire restaurant for a large party or for a portion of it. Negative: Gets loud, but is worth it and a whole lot of fun...

One of the best experiences in a long time!

Not only is the Lebanese/Meditaranian food truly home cooked and prepared with love, but this place is an absolute gem for a great culinary experience and once the belly dancer starts and the owner, Nicola himself, comes out and entertains with honoring special guests with birthdays and anniversaries, etc., the party really gets going and by the end of the night the entire restaurant, patrons and staff alike is up and dancing, having a good time. A true gem that lets one forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Great food at a very reasonable price and superb entertainment! Feels more like a fun family party that a restaurant!

Truly a gem. Authentic | delicious | friendly You enter as a guest, but leave with a restaurant full of friends. "Uncle Nick" engages young and old into the evening with music, dancing (yes, he CAN balance a wine bottle on his head!) and acknowledges everyone's birthday, anniversary, graduation etc with true warmth and affection. Belly Dancer is lovely.

We went there for Father's Day, first of all we were the only family there which is totally fine but it was weird so we ordered the 20 per person for 7 people deal so we could try everything. I was totally disappointed 😔 with the amount of food they brought out. They brought out one tray of grape leaves which only had four or five in there. Clearly not enough for all the people that were going to eat. The smallest plate of fattoush & tabouleh mean seriously I just paid $20 Per person and they bring the smallest plates of food & their ckn was disgusting. I was so disappointed because after reading all the reviews everything llooked so great. To make the story short we order pizza when we get home because people were still hungry. I chose not to make a scene because that's the place my husband chose to go eat at for Father's Day. But the $20 was definitely not worth it.!!!! If you want good middle eastern food go to Aladdins. Period.

Atmosphere was great. Service was super. Food was delicious. HOWEVER...they charged us 11.95 for my 3 y/o to have 5 chicken nuggets and fries! My full meal was the same price, and hubby's big combination plate was only $1 more. There was not a printed children's menu; otherwise, I would have just given him my chicken which I took to go anyway. If not for that...I would have rated it a 5! It really was good. When we walked in, there was a belly dancer who was so sweet to the wee ones!

My fiancee and I went here for her birthday, but we were mainly there for the entertainment. Great energy and it was an awesome place altogether. My fiancee had the time off her life because she enjoys to dance a similar style. She can't wait for us to go back to Georgia so we can visit this place. The owner danced to a birthday song for my fiancee and she enjoyed it.

Great Fun for a group

Went to Nicolas with a large group. We had a blast. Family style meal for $20 was a deal. The appetizers are better than the main dishes. Wine is only $4 per glass. The white wine was sweet. The best part of the evening is the belly dancing show. The owner cranks up the music and everyone ends up dancing.

Great heart but lacking in all else.

So, I don't want to slam this place as the owner seems to be quite the legendary figure in the area and everyone had a blast so instead I would offer some advice to improve the restaurant/experience. Focus on service, hardly anyone came by to refill drink orders which would have brought a ton more money to the business. Work on raising the food score card which was partially blocked and fairly easy to fix (72 is not good). Cut the music volume down unless you just want to call this a club instead of a restaurant. Work on jazzing up the old decor if funds are available as the place looks a bit wore out. Focus on quality of food and service instead of entertaining every person there.

This restaurant is very good awesome service and reasonably priced. The Saturday night music and belly dancers are funny! Great authentic Mediterranean food. The owner is very nice and passionate about his food and restaurant!
