Let me preface this review by saying, my bestie and I didn’t plan on coming here. We happened upon this little hole in the wall Mediterranean Restaurant and we were both a little apprehensive to order.
We could not be more happy that we stayed, ordered, ate and then ate some more!
Our food was delicious. The owner came over to our table and we all talked for at least an hour. We got to know him and his story, which is amazing! During our conversation, he kept going back to the kitchen to have us try different foods he had prepared! Nothing was short of amazing and honestly, you could eat here many times and your taste buds would never get bored.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place after visiting the World of Coke. Delicious chicken and gyro shawarma. The baba ganoush was also fantastic...probably the best that we've ever had! But our favorite part was interacting with a staff member named Abdul. This southern gentleman provided excellent service and he even let us taste 2 desserts for free (awesome banana pudding - wow!) His friendliness really made us feel welcome. Thank you Abdul!

This place was close to where we were staying and we decided to try it. So glad we did! It was amazing! The guys had Philly cheesesteaks and said it was the best they have had. My friend, son, and I chicken shawarma and it was delicious my little girl had chicken nuggets cause she is a picky eater but everyone was happy. The owner was great and letting us try things to make sure we liked it.. Wonderful experience.

Knowing that Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones would provide over two hours of dancing and singing we needed a proper dinner. The Indian restaurant down the road had some equipment problems and we were so fortunate to stumble on Baraka Shawarma. What a beautiful experience. The owner exudes such joy that before our food even arrived we felt at home in this cozy and warm space. But the food was some of the best Mediterranean we’ve ever had, including stuffed grape leaves that left the perfect amount of lemon on the lips. The baba ganoush was sublime and the beef kofta kabobs were so tender…oh my! Even the tabouleh my wife raved about. Two Floridians marveled at the number of locals who seemed to come as much for the sense of community as the sensational flavors.

We were in downtown Atlanta and wanted to check out the Underground area. Interesting area but not a lot of restuarants since Covid. We were hungry so we followed our nose to this Middle Eastern restaurant. Food was very fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Manager was very pleasant. Some Middle Eastern people also walked in to order so it gets the stamp of authentic approval. Will be back whenever we go to Atlanta.

We are back and it's only been a day!
We had lunch here yesterday as well as dinner. My wife is half Lebanese, so she knows her baba ghanoush from her hummus!
Abdul is the REAL McCoy! He has cooked dishes from 40 different countries, including my favourite: Chicken Tikka Masala!
Anyway, the meat kebab spit is always turning at Baraka Shawarma and the food is second to no authentic Lebanese, Middle Eastern food!
This is one of the easiest 5 stars I have given. And I do not give them easily. This place has made our stay in Atlanta worthwhile!

I liked this place. It is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, near some old Federal/courthouse type building. It is a few blocks from Peachtree Street. I met a friend here for lunch before doing a walking tour.
The shop is a straightforward, no frills sort of place. They have a small dining area with multiple booths and a couple of tables up front, and a counter at the back where you order. There is a menu board above the counter. The guy behind the counter was friendly and engaging.
The food is then brought out to your table after you order. I got a gyro and fries and enjoyed them.
This place is well worth a stop for a quick lunch if you are in the area.

Anytime I am in Atlanta, I try to make my way to Baraka Shawarma. It's just one of the best places that I've been for fresh food. While sitting right in the midst of Atlanta's business district, this place is both unassuming and unpretentious. It is also unforgettable. This time we had a lamb sandwich with their spicy sauce and a veggie platter. As usual, I was tempted to get more of everything, but each dish is enough for two in my opinion, especially since their hours cater to lunch.

"Website unavailable" so I called to find out hours of operation on Tues for a late night outing after a show. Finished my complete sentence, then the person hung up on me. Tried calling back - no answer. I dont suppose they care to have the business.

It is rare that you find food this good, a hidden gem in plain site. You don't want to come to Atlanta, especially downtown without visiting the delicious restaurant. A verifiable hole-in-the-wall, it is worth a stop at lunch and take some time to go, because you'll think about your meal for days. The menu is simple. Excellent halal shawarma, meze, and other incredibly tasty middle eastern/mediterranean dishes. I wish I could have gone back there again and again.

We called in as close to our hotel following some good reviews and you can see why. Yes, the place is it a little bit untidy but as for the food and welcome!!
The owner was so good, and helpful. The food was cooked fresh, was tasty and superb. The owner then came over with a lollipop after.
Not overpriced too, brilliant. Highly recommended

Good baklava, fries, good flavors, menu options, and assortment of drinks. Slow service, partially incorrect order, sloppy playing in a basket, but the basket does catch the extra that falls out of a wrap.

The Combination Shawarma wrap, with marinated gyro-cooked chicken, was beyond excellent. If you're looking for an out-of-the-way place to indulge in quick but spectacular food before a Hawks or Falcons game, this is your spot. Personable owners, and it's just few blocks from each arena. Make your way to this hidden gem.

always like to try something different- a bit under the radar as well.
in looking for such a place during a recent visit to ATL, we fortunately stumbled on Baraka.... I repeat, fortunately.
small, unassuming, unadorned- that was until we spoke with the owner and we realized how absolutely full of life and flavor this place is!
the shawarma was delicious! make sure to try the combination- best of both worlds.
dolmas was well worth it.
only gripe was the lamb shish kabobs- not enough for the money and the meat was overall okay.
wish I had the combo!
baklava was just right as a finisher....
one other thing-
it was a coldish night for Atlanta when we were there. an older man of the street found his way into the restaurant while we were eating- sat down, seemingly to warm himself.
not only did the owner allow him to sit a while, he treated the man with respect and provided a warm cup of something or other, certainly understanding he'd receive no compensation.
in today's world, to see that?
it was as warm as the greeting we received and as filling as the meal we enjoyed.
it made our night.
between that act of kindness and the food and the true welcome we received, there's no doubt we'll be back and strongly recommend you make it a point to stop in.
