My teen and I came to grab some takeout of Pizza, wings and starters....I was in awe since it was my first time. The pizza was half cheese and half mushroom. The crust was so buttery and delicious, and the slice of mushrooms were awesome, a nice slice or portobella mushrooms. A nice thin crust that doesn't flop and delicious mozzarella cheese just like the NY pizzas. The wings we got were flats, they were crispy and a good size wing mildly spiced and moist. Good chicken better than the counter parts. loved them. The spinach and artichoke dip were nice and cheesy good spinach to cheese ratio, but we could have used a bit more dip, The cup was only 1/2 full.
What I enjoyed was the fact that the menu gave you choices of wings with flats or drums. and spices as well. They have a good selection of different toppings and pictures to see what you are getting. The restaurant was nicely decorated as well, You would feel comfortable, not loud and pleasant to walk in the hostesses were pleasant and welcoming as well.......The one we went to was out in short pump near wegmans, they dont have it listed yet on here, but its been there a while. Love the food and atmosphere..we will be back..

Driven by many times and decided to grab a late afternoon snack. Kristen was our server and she was excellent.
House sangria was ok...drink flight was excellent
Bruschetta was very good
Loaded potato pizza was excellent. Best dough I ever had and I eat a lot of pizza. I had the small and 1 slice had no bacon and one potato chuck. Rest of pizza only had 3 small pieces of bacon. Reccomendation to chef...slice the potato for better and more even coverage. Or atleast have staff pay better attention when making the pizza.
Will be back for sure.

Great service. Fun atmosphere and the BEST pizza. You can also order your own with so many ingredients to chose from. We ordered a bit more than we needed because it is go good the next day!! Recommend going on the earlier side on weekends as it tends to fill up but that is a good thing.

I can down to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We walked down Cary Street checking out our options during the day. They told us they didn’t take reservations and provided an estimated wait time. My daughter ultimately picked Mellow Mushroom.
When we returned (party of six), the hostess actually discouraged is from waiting. She told us there were only a couple of tables that seated large parties (we already knew this from when we scouted it out earlier) and that the wait could be an hour (we also already knew this). She was not very enthusiastic except to ask us to get out of the way and to inform us we could not wait inside. We planned to walk around to kill time, but it was her demeanor that was off-putting.
When we returned (less than an hour), they asked if we wanted to be seated at two separate tables. I had told them we were there for a birthday celebration., so that was an odd suggestion to me. Finally someone seated us. Attention to detail was missing. First we ordered apps. The spinach artichoke dip was just ok. The toast served with it was delicious, but there was way too much cheese on top, which made it actually harden before we could eat much of it.
We ordered our entrees soon after our apps. It took close to an hour for the next course - two pizzas and four burgers. The server came back once or twice during this entire time, but offered no explanation, no bread, nothing. We would periodically grab her for drink refills and sat there.
When the food arrived, the burger orders were all wrong. Instead of being apologetic and offering to do much to fix it, the server just
stood there. She then looked at her notepad and started reading the orders as if she was trying to demonstrate that she was right (she wasn’t). Only one burger order was correct. The girls made the best of it, accepting the errors and handing each other toppings that were in the wrong burgers.
I write this review because despite the fact this was just “burgers and pizza,” our bill was over $150. I except better. Customer experience is important to me and i think this entire meal could have been much different. The five girls with me will all be looking for places to bring their families in the future and none of us left wowed. First impressions matter.

Yes it’s a great experience and the Pizza is excellent. The Short Pump location is horrible and don’t expect much from the staff as it seems they don’t like their jobs. Every-time we give them a chance they mess it up.
If you love great service then go to Cary Location

They make great pizza. Try the Holy Shitake if you havent. I like their pizza dough and the fact that they put lots of garlic. Though I'm sure you can request pizza without garlic.

I have been here several times over the years and always LOVE the quality of the pizzas. It’s not super “local” as there are hundreds of locations but it is absolutely worth being on everyone’s list for RVA food

Birthday visit last night for my son. Pizza was delicious. Generous servings so nice for take home. Waiter did mixup order but we got it for free so I am not complaining.

This was our first time visiting a Mellow Mushroom. We'll definitely be back! We were lucky to choose NYE for lunch since we heard they normally have a long wait. We ordered too much food, but enjoyed it all. Spinach and Artichoke Dip (with nice light herbed toast), 'Lil Garden and Chef Salads, and small Shiitake Pie. Service was very fast and attentive - plates were regularly cleared! (Sad to have to point this out, but lately we seem to be hard-pressed to find servers in mid-range restaurants who clear service items as we finish!) Eva did a nice job!

We went there tonight with our grandkids from England. Our pizzas took 45 minutes after they were ordered. I told the manager how long we were waiting and he said sorry it will be out in 5 minutes. Nothing against our waiter we felt sorry for him. Our bill came without any adjustments or and offer to give our grandkids a free dessert. Never going back there again and this was not our first time service was so slow. On the way out an employee told me they were severely understaffed. I also noticed they we’re giving their takeout customers priority to those of us eating inside. Poor management from ownership on a holiday night.

So sorry about the service. Was it at the Carytown Mellow Mushroom, or could it have been at Midlothian or Short Pump? The manager that night doesn't recall talking to a table about a late pizza.

My family didn’t want pizza while on vacation. I convinced them to go to Mellow Mushroom because they have a big menu other than pizza. We all ended up ordering pizza anyway! All three pizzas were amazing. We will go back every chance we get!

We ordered online and paid at our hotel, then had to find this location. The parking in this area is impossible. I ended up dropping off one person to walk up, then forced to go in traffic I eventually dropped off another person to walk back to the restaurant. I drove around on the next block and no parking available so I had no choice but to sit a few minutes in a nearby business lot so I could let them know how to get back to me.
The food came out fine but we ordered too much to eat at the track before the race, the menu should say how large in inches each size is- not just small, medium, large. This is at least our 6th location to try and I would say the food was as expected.

Stopped through on a Saturday night for pizza. They were very crowded but honestly our wait wasn't bad at all.. Service was friendly and the pizza was great! It got rave reviews from our entire table. Tried several appetizers and all were fantastic. Would go again if in the area!
