Loved the open air dining at Havana 59. Staff were attentive and our appetizer & meals were delicious. I enjoyed a Pomegranate Mojito with my rice & pork dinner. the Collard Greens that accompanied the Steak Frites were DELISH. My only small disappointment was no cafe con leche after dinner. That would have been perfect.

Came across this place and fell in love with the vibe. The pomegranate mojito and original mojito s rock. The nacho appetizer was savory. I loved their use of plantains as nachos. Afterwards we indulged in a sweet cigar. Good times!

Loved the decor and the vibe. It's an indoor smoking friendly bar, so keep that in mind. The mojitos were excellent however the smell in the kitchen area made me not want to eat there. I will likely return for a drink but not to eat.

Everything we had was very good, along with the service. Their cocktails were fresh and delicious. We had the mussels and Cuban spring rolls, really enjoyed the taste of the spring rolls. For entrees we had the scallops and pàella.

One of a kind Caribbean atmosphere with outstanding food. This is a staple of Richmond and has been around for a long time. If you haven't been in a while, you need to come back to the Shockoe Bottom area and check it out! Best Cuban Sandwich and Mojitos in Richmond hands down. The food and all the way down... More

Iconic hit in Richmond. First, this is truly Cuban, as in Cigar Friendly. So if the hint of tobacco turns you off, don't come. You'll get a waft even in the non-smoking section, although it isn't overpowering. The bar is smoking, sells cigars or you may bring your own. Food is served. Non-smoking offers tables and a full menu of... More

How sad and disappointing. We were so excited to have cuban food in richmond! Ridiculous step back in time. Five minutes in the door and we smelled like ashtrays and throats itched like a bar visit from the 80s. What are you thinking!!!!

Interesting flavors simulate Cuban cooking. Cigar smoking on one side of the restaurant good for those who want to imagine being in Cuba.

We ate from their brunch menu at noon on Sunday. The place was pretty empty with only two other tables and several people in the bar section. It smelled of smoke when we walked in the door. The smoking section is separated by a full wall and door. We sat at the furthest table from the smoking section, but it... More

Enjoy eating here with my son. Also with my son and his friends when I visit him in Richmond. Full disclosure, I grew up in Miami so it's difficult not to compare the food. Sure wish they made croquettes which is a Cuban food staple. A dios mio I would drive to the restaurant weekly for good croquettes. The Cuban... More

Havana ’59 has been a staple in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom District since its opening in 1995. We are proud of the community we have served for 22 years and the loyalty and longevity they have provided us, as demonstrated by our 2017 OpenTable Diner’s Choice Award. We invite you to step back in time to the tradition of excess in 1950’s Havana, when the island city was known as the “Paris of the Caribbean”. The combination of tradition and indulgence cultivate a casual yet elegant atmosphere where the string lights, enormous open windows, crumbling plaster walls, palm trees, and aroma of fine cigars envelope you as you relax and enjoy the tantalizing delights of a bygone era. We proudly offer our guests an unforgettable culinary and cocktail experience delivered with exceptional service, from the fresh juices we press in house for our cocktails, to the locally sourced ingredients utilized in our scratch kitchen.
