A great place to bring out of town guests or for locals to dine. The seafood is always fresh. The chowders are all tasty and a sampler of the chowders is available on the menu. The rhubarb mojito is very tasty and refreshing on a hot day. Out door dining is the best with a waterfront view and cooling breeze.

Great location. Wonderful atmosphere. People extremely friendly. Either kitchen or service is extremely slow. An hour and twenty minutes for entrees. Service not attentive at all. Clams in wine broth was wonderful. King Crab Legs so sweet. If service was better it would have been excellent.

Ivar's is known for it's clam chowder and were were very happy with our lunch selections. I had the sampler - heads up the salmon one has a bit of a kick to it. The clam chowder was very good. The fried shrimp was quite good - the breading was not that heavy overly crunchy type. It was a nice... More

This use to be our go to first meal in Seattle, but today will be our last. The newly remodeled dinning and patio are beautiful. The view from the patio is spectacular but the food and service was very disappointing. The shrimp and chips were over cooked and had no flavor, fries were not hot. The new bread is a... More

Stopped in based on reviews and reading the menu this place made its beginning and story on the clam chowder and fish and chips . So I thought I would try it . What a disappointment !!! The chowder was nothing special , and the fish in the "fish and chips " was not good , cheap fish and strange... More

Was an ok meal. Service was excellent. Had clam strips and fries and a chicken sandwich and fries. Husband said clam strips were ok. Chicken sandwich not good at all. Tasted worse than something through a drive thru.. I didn't send it back. So I didn't give them a chance to correct it. Waitress was polite and returned to the... More

We had the chowder sampler (3 4 oz portions) which were all excellent as well as the grilled halibut which was also very tasty. Service was prompt and attentive which was saying a lot being that it was packed for Mother's Day. It was enjoyable to be seated and able to watch the ferries come and go, watch a seal... More

Enjoyed the clams, you can get good views. It's quite a large restaurant, feels a bit impersonal, but the service still seemed ok.

Description
Ivar’s Acres of Clams has unveiled a whale of a transformation at this flagship location on Pier 54, located on Seattle’s Waterfront overlooking Elliott Bay.

Ivar’s Acres of Clams just completed a stunning remodel, the biggest in its 79-year storied history. The down-to-the-studs remodel includes expanded indoor dining space, a new massive outdoor patio, expanded state-of-the-art kitchen and a completely refreshed interior that pays homage to our iconic restaurant’s roots.

Upon entering Ivar’s Acres of Clams you will be immersed in the history and lore of Ivar’s and our flounder Ivar Haglund. Original features of the Pier, which opened in 1901, including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant (some say the Seattle Costco of its time) were restored. With a more airy feel and expansive views, diners will enjoy views of the Puget Sound, passing Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3.

If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outside patio deck. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay, including the tranquil passing of ferries – and the occasional seagull friend.

To satisfy your craving for Northwest seafood, our chefs have created award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world-famous original recipes. Choose from wild Alaska salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaska King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams and weathervane scallops, just to name a few.

Be sure to check out our Pier 54 Fish Bar, which offers take-out service of Ivar's classics including award-wining fish ‘n chips, chowder and other seafood favorites. As part of the local lore, feel free to feed a few fries to the seagulls. It’s a photo opportunity worth sharing!
