This is a jewel of a restaurant on Capitol Hill in Seattle. The owner, Jerry, uses organic and locally sources food, arrayed on a Thali. Thalis originated in India and they are a smattering of different delights on one plate. You can order vegetarian or meat or fish Thalis. He gets rave after rave reviews in Seattle. Prices are reasonable,... More

This is a must try restaurant in Seattle. The Thali concept from India meets America. The fusion flavors are delectable! And amazing dessert - must order the Thali dessert! Indulge!!!

At the end of a long day of travel and touring, we were coming back to the B&B where we were staying when it started to rain, so we ducked into the entrance of this restaurant. My wife saw that the had Copper river Salmon thali on the posted menu so that sealed the deal. In addition, this restaurant was... More

I really wanted to love Poppy. I had heard good reviews for a long time. It's just OK. Just fine for a quick meal if you are in teh neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way. We walked in early on a Friday night and were warmly greeted. Our server arrived at our table promptly, was knowledgable and... More

Jerry Traunfeld is a flavor savant. His knowledge of Asian flavors is encyclopedic and he weaves them all together at Poppy. Had a different thali every time I went and was never disappointed. Get the dessert. It's so worth it.

I rarely give five stars but this was a very fun dining experience and the food was delicious. The cod was exceptional and all the side dishes were excellent and thoughtful. The deserts were also delightful. The food is creative and a fusion of Indian style presentation with international twists. Afterward I was satisfied but did not feel like a... More

Great restaurant and service. Served Thali style- main dish with small side dishes .Try the Ling Cod Thali or Beef Thali. Side dishes are just the right size to have 5 of them with it being too much food. For an appetizer try the popover filled with cured ham very yummy. For dessert we had the Pana Cotta & Marshmallow... More

The food was unusual and beautifully presented. Don't know how to describe it but it was certainly a taste sensation involving lots of different food combinations and flavours. Absolutely loved it and would go back in a minute. The service was great and knowledgeable. Very nice ambience.

Thali style I think it is popular in Nepal. A center round plate and several smaller bowls. Unusual taste profiles. Worth trying. Of the 7 items I liked 6. Service was a bit slow.

I dined at Poppy with some wonderful friends for my birthday, and during restaurant week. It was a great celebration that started in the bar. The bartender… or should I say “mixologist” started the evening off right. While I am sure the drinks on the menu are good, the drinks he made just by asking our likes and dislikes were... More
