A local recommended this place to us as a place they frequent. What a great tip! The chowder was great, and the bucket of butts (halibut) was the best! An interesting place.

My husband and I split an order of the halibut pieces. He doesn't even like fish and he liked them. The taste was very mild and the batter was so light it complimented the excellent fish. Our waitress told us it was locally caught, flash...More

My husband and I walked a very short walk to Thorn’s Showcase Lounge for lunch while we took a break from the Alaska SeaLife Center. The staff was very welcoming and service was fast. We of course had to order their famous “bucket of butts”...More

Even though I knew I was walking into a place with character from the reviews, it definitely was with the decanters througtout and red leather studded seating, with TV's all around. No doubt a lounge, and the halibut butts were delicious: light, crispy, not over...More

Retro decor and a great collection of fancy booze bottles. Several TVs with sports, terrific juke box, friendly staff and good bar food at reasonable (for Alaska) prices.

Firstly, this place is exactly what our group looks for while on vacation, a locals place. None of us are into chain restaurants. It has a ton of history, staff is very welcoming and friendly, the place is full of decanters, and its decorated straight...More

A bucket of butts! What a great marketing ploy to get you in the door! But oh, what a feast, too! We paired this with some fabulous seafood chowder and onion rings - and were very happy campers! But it is a bustling place at...More

We were intrigued by the reviews for the bucket of butts and had to try it while in Seward. We both had the halibut chink basket (7 chunks). Husband had a baked potato on the side while I got the seafood chowder. We also shared...More

Coming highly recommended by the locals, we decided to try this tavern for lunch, and boy are we glad we did! Full of locals characters and flavor, we were completely wowed by the Bucket of Butts, their halibut specialty.

I found a menu online on the zomato website(I can't post the URL here) but I have no idea how current it is. I can't remember the prices I and my group paid back in February but I think we paid a few dollars more for some... More

I'm not sure about the recipe for the butts. If you like lobster, I have a poor man's lobster recipe. 4 c. Water 1/4 c sugar 1/8 c salt Boil, drop 1 inch size chunks of halibut in water. Remove as soon as it floats, not long... More
