Huggo's on the Rocks had an awesome ambience, great music performers and very good food fare value overall when we visited. I had the seafood chowder in a bread bowl which hit the spot and was a perfect size, and my wife had the taco...More

We went for happy hour and the selection of happy hour drink specials was good. I loved the "Hawaiian Rainbow" cocktail. Very unique outdoor seating where tables are on the sand and you are right next to the ocean. The live music was nice and...More

This is a funky place, small, outdoor seating but covered, right on the water with mostly sand flooring. There is music every night--good music where many locals come to dance and enjoy. The drinks are OK and the location is unbeatable for sunset viewing. They...More

If you want North American style food, this might be the place. They put allot effort into their hamburgers. Had to wait an hour for a table at 6:00 pm. They now take reservations, which we did not have. The best thing I enjoyed about...More

We stopped here on a recommendation from a friend. It’s an outdoor pub/food trailer scenario. Their covered seating is very limited so if it’s raining - good luck. If the weather cooperates then their tables along the water sit in sand and are comfortable. The...More

Okay... Huggo's On The Rocks was one of those places that we researched and said; "Gotta try this!" We went before sunset to sit in the sand, have a few cocktails and dinner. We waited a half hour to be seated, and missed out on...More

Yes they do. It appeared when we were there that one half of the restaurant takes walkins and the other half reservations. We had reservations.

Opened in 1998 in the waterfront location adjacent to Huggo's fine dining restaurant, On the Rocks is a come as you are, kau kau (eat) great food with sand between your toes, kick back and enjoy great island entertainment center of fun on Hawaii Island. "After operating Huggo's restaurant for 18 years, we had the opportunity to purchase the vacant lot right next door and we jumped at it," Eric says. "The concept is what you see today - a casual bar and restaurant set literally on the rocks and sand of Kailua-Bay. Like many locals, we were tired of driving 20 miles or more up the coast to enjoy this sort of relaxed resort ambiance and decided to create just that right here in town."
