I was so excited to hear that Willie’s has gluten free chicken tenders. And they lived up to the hype. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken and waffles also. Lovely outdoor seating and ambience and great beer selection. Would recommend and will be returning!

A little pricey, (but isn’t everything in Hawaii?), but so yummy! Friendly service, happy and helpful staff, great atmosphere, live music. I had the sweet Hawaiian chicken breast (sooooo good!). I went with my daughter and her family. She and her hubby split a chicken sandwich (plenty of food), grand daughter got chicken tenders/no heat that she raved about. Waffle fries, YES! Potato salad, ABSOLUTELY! A fun place to go with friends and family. You will not walk away hungry!

If you are looking for fried chicken, this is the place. Living in east U.S. We have never tasted chicken this good and asked if they were going to franchise that's how good it is. If you are visiting Kona HI do not miss this place, it is worth going out of your way for. They used to have something called Broasted (not roasted) chicken in Dallas, and then was Chicken Delight in NY, but this chicken, outweighs any fried chicken we have ever eaten. We were in Kona for 3 days, in on Monday, went there to eat, left on Wed. went there to eat before the flight. Again, do not miss this chicken or the people who work there, very very friendly, always smiling.

$17 for a quarter chicken and undercooked fries - chicken in hot spice was okay. The bread was a soggy slice of basic brown bread.
$16 a club sandwich, 2 chicken parts ( not sure what parts) bacon, 2 hard only core tomatoe slices between soft bread that had been threatened with a weak flame which had given up trying to toast it.
Frozen Mai Tai and a longboard + tip
Total bill $60

This place was packed and I can see why! Seating is very limited for the volume of business they had, but it was worth the wait and sharing a table with a stranger. I wanted the waffle fries, but they were out so I ordered the sidewinders which were fantastic (if you love huge fluffy potato inside and crispness outside). I had the chicken tenders, which were huge and juicy. The flavor was outstanding. My partner had the grilled chicken sandwich with Mac n cheese which he said were also delicious. So happy we stumbled on this place.

There aren't many places that sell whole wings - and fried with a crispy flavorful outer crust that is so good for dipping or eating. This was a pleasant surprise on our weekend visit to the Big Island. We loved the chicken, the dipping sauces, the fries, the mac & cheese was flavorful and the baked beans homemade with a tangy southern sweet and barbeque. The drinks were well made and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Indoor and outdoor seating and informal so you can roll up there after going to the beach.

This place is like a second home to me everyone is always super friendly and happy to see you. Hands down have some of the best chicken I’ve ever eaten and I always stop in here to get lunch. They also do live music every weekend and have a great Beer selection if you are looking for a spot to hangout in the weekends

There is limited seating but it is perfect for smaller groups. Sit inside, outside, or at the bar. Menu is simple but offers choices for all. Staff is friendly and helpful. I got the sweet Hawaiian and it truly was not too spicy.
Chill atmosphere and they have brews and cocktails if you like to hang out. Lots of local drink choices!

Excellent! Great value, great food, great service. Hot chicken sandwich was top notch, wings were juicy and crispy, sides were delicious. Online ordering and pickup was a breeze and they had outdoor seating as well for folks who don’t want to breathe droplets.
An absolute must in Kailua town, if you dig on the bird!

Worth a visit if in the area. We saw it when driving to Kona Brewing for dinner one evening. Because Kona Brewing cut their menu to pretty much only pizzas, we decided to only visit there once and chose Willie’s Hot Chicken the next night. Lots of outdoor seating with tiki torches and alway full of people. The food was good with chicken selections and a full bar. Service was fabulous. We could definitely understand after eating here why it was always crowded at night for dinner. We will eat here again.

My husband and I went earlier this week for takeout. He got chicken tenders, with jerk and sweet Hawaiian, with Mac n cheese as a side. He said his was ok, good not worth a trip back. I got chicken tenders as well, the classic southern., and asked for potato salad as a side. After we got back to our lodgings, I noticed the receipt indicated coleslaw for my side, I had not noticed that while there, unfortunately. I hate coleslaw, and that was in our order. My tenders were very dry and overcooked. I sent 2 messages to their “Contact us” on their website with no reply, giving them an opportunity to make it right, no response. This was not cheap but I don’t mind paying for quality. Anyway, in our experience not worth the hype we have seen about this place.

If you want great fried chicken and a casual vibe with a nice staff, this is the place. There’s lots of outdoor seating picnic table style with shade. Be warned that hot means HOT. The tenders are like half a chicken breast so three is a good sized portion.

The place was very busy at about 8 pm but the food came out quick and tasted great. Cool location with lots of outdoor seating. I love spicy food and got the Nashville level of spicy (which is about the middle on their scale) and it was spicy! in a good way. I can not imagine getting any spicier than that for my taste, but it was really good. Highly recommended.

This is right next to Kona Brewing Co. It is a very casual place, order and sit outside. Has a full bar w beers, local and otherwise, on tap. Here on a Saturday night before the airport and the joints-a-jumpin’ le’me tell ya! Live band playing w a very festive atmosphere. Young, old, kids, dogs, you name it. This is the place to be.
Specialty is chicken strips that are generous and juicy and with the heat you request from 0-1,000,000, sandwiches, salads,
wings and chicken. Lots of sides and dippin sauces to choose from. And, as an added bonus, very reasonably priced.
Given the very limited menu at Kona B C, this is a great alternative without a wait.

We were headed over to Kona Brewing but found that we could only order food from a food truck (with limited selection). So we went over to Willie's Hot Chicken in the next plaza over as we saw a lineup there. What a great and unexpected stop! The fried chicken and chicken tenders were so juicy and crunchy! The service was also very good. I'd definitely come back again and recommend it to my friends.
