This restaurant is just up the hill from Costco and my go-to place for lunch, dinner, or just a smoothie whenever I am in the area. Diverse menu with dishes that are not always the typical ones. Pleasant staff, nice homemade ice creams, and an addendum shop that sells old Thai wares. Absolutely recommend going here for nice food.

A menu full of Gluten Free items using fresh organic vegetables in a large variety of entrees, salads, soups, and more. They also serve dairy free gelato in a variety of flavors. Excellent service and delicious food. We plan to visit again before we leave the island. We suggest the Nam Prik Pia or Shrimp Noodle Salad or the Organic... More

Had some delicious meals here; the waiter was helpful and efficient and they provided the perfect spiciness levels for every member in my family. The soups were so good, I had them twice! If you're looking for a quick and delicious bite, definitely stop in.

We had red curry, noodles with ono, a cold papaya salad, a chicken coconut soup, and various drinks, including ginger lemonade. All excellent.

It is a bit hidden away but has some of the best views of the river valley. Lots of comfy seating. Food we loved: Veg cheese crepes Fruit Museli with curd and honey (just great) Dal fried yellow Veg Jal Frazi. Service was fantastic, the guys are so sweet. Came here a couple of times and found it so relaxing,... More

We enjoyed our dinner. The yellow curry was flavorful and the coconut shrimp were jumbo size. We will return.

We went there prior to our flight back to the mainland. Dimly lit basic cafe with nondescript furniture. The waitress was busy eating her own dinner through most of our time there. The kitchen helper was busy dragging supplies to the food truck outside. The Indian style curries were so-so. Both of them looked and tasted identical. It might have... More

Yes, the kitchen helper was busy doing his job, and that seems to bother you. Our 3 Indian curry pastes have very different ingredients. I can't imagine anyone confusing black pepper and turmeric with star anise and cinnamon Keep eating that Costco pizza; its perfect for you as its obvious you also know ittle about pizza. More

Highly recommended -- varied menu with lots of vegetarian choices. Compared to many Thai restaurants, I would say that the food here is much less sweet and less oily -- the flavor from the spices really comes through. Try the pad thai and you will see what I mean. The ono dishes are really good, and the vegetables are jsut... More

After getting back from Thailand I missed the food so much my husband and I decided to try Lotus Cafe. It's very flavorful and authentic tasting, there's even an appetizer dish that in all of Thailand I had only experienced one place at a rural floating market and here it was at the lotus cafe- except she used lettuce instead... My family really enjoyed the food here. I thought it was a bit bland, but not too bad. The vegetables were organic and very good. They seem to get a lot of "airport" people so they served us as quickly as possible to get us on our way. Really is a great break from fast food and airport food.

Description
Our goal at Lotus is to serve the highest quality and best tasting Asian food you have ever eaten. Using our 35 years of experience working with natural and organic foods, we have created unique recipes and sourced special ingredients, many that we grow on our farm, to bring you the flavors of Northern Thailand, Burma, India and Indonesia, all cooked without the slew of artificial ingredients commonly used in all other Asian restaurants. Our cooking techniques maximize the flavor and nutritional / medicinal benefits of the fresh herbs and spices we use. Nothing is fried in oil; mostly we braise or ingredients in the sauces we create. We use fresh herbs & spices to prepare all our sauces from scratch; bottled & canned sauces are NEVER used. Being Hawaii's only Pan-Asian natural foods restaurant, with a great menu of dishes not offered anywhere else in Hawaii, and serving fresh delicious food, we have built a huge following of clients just by word of mouth. Come for a meal or just a snack of our delicious gelato, made fresh with local fruit (9 flavors)and coconut milk. It's dairy free and delicious. Or enjoy fresh espresso made with 100% Certified Organic Kona Coffee. Come find out why people are raving about Lotus Cafe! Lotus is the only Gluten free & GMO free eatery in all of Hawaii. We use unprocessed and mostly organic ingredients. We can easily accommodate any food allergies or preferences you may have, as we cook the food when you order it, not earlier in the day. We are 100% solar photovoltaic powered & zero waste too.You can also find us on Saturdays a t the Keauho Farmers Market and Sundays at the South Kona Green Market. Located across from Costco, just 5 minutes from the airport. Open till 9 pm, closed Sundays.Look for our food truck soon to be on the road in Kona.
