We had four family members who each got something very different. It was all delicious. The service was great. Wine and beer selection not very imaginative, but the food made up for it.

The grilled quail was the special for the day and it was outstanding. The portions were generous enough for two. It was accompanied by luscious grilled vegetables, hummus and pita bread. We also ordered the Fattoush salad--OMG. I begged for the recipe for the wonderful...More

We love middle eastern food and were surprised to find a place, and especially one so highly rated on Trip Advisor, here in the desert. I ordered a glass of white wine from the menu, but the waitress came back saying they had none. I...More

Clean and friendly atmosphere with really good Mediterranean choices to enjoy. I'm a fan of their falafel. Certainly a shiny spot among the fast food chains.

We've eaten here several times with the family for dinner, a few times with the girls for lunch, and even a date night. Appetizers are good, I like the garlic yogurt dip with the pita bread. The sandwich and pitas are great for lunch, the...More

Nothing to write home about but Tripadvisor will do... I had probably the worse mill which was due in part from my lack of understanding of what I ordered. I tried to finish choking it down for the sake of not wasting. It was some...More

Stopped in between hikes at nearby Joshua Tree National Park. Loved the food, service and value. We almost didn't go in because it looked deserted but a friendly man opened the door and welcomed us. Such a pleasure to find my favorite foods in this...More

Who would have imagined such a excellent restaurant masquerading as a common falafel joint-kebab house in this small desert town. Traditional dishes were moist and flavorful, Baba ganoush, hummus, lentil soup (get the pureed), salad. Dinner special 3 pen-raised quail, moist, marinated over night, with...More

I loved everything almost about this place - the people were great, the food, excellent. The only problems wer the fluorescent lighting and the fact that they used so much plastic.

The back approach to the restaurant (it has a front door as well) through its parking lot and past the kitchen and store is unprepossessing - but don't be put off by initial appearances. The restaurant in owned by an ex-US marine with Iranian origins...More

Description
An unexpected find in an out-of-the-way place. The entry point for Joshua Tree National Park, 29 Palms is also known for its Marine base. For some reason, Middle-Eastern folks who really know how to cook have landed there. They serve plenty of kabobs, kafta & shawarma; we stuck with the vegetarian food: lemon lentil soup, roasted cauliflower salad, and the absolutely best stuffed grape leaves I've ever eaten. Easy to say, I know, but seriously, these people understand how to spice food in a way that's both subtle and complex. A very satisfying meal.
