We stopped in at Parasol's on our way to a guided tour at Lafayette Cemetery. Make no mistake, this place is not pleasing to the eye. It's about the food. You walk into the bar area, which is narrow. From there you can take a short set of stairs to the eating area. There's a walk up window where you... More

I love this place! My mom (61 years) sister and I had a great time here. We had a chance to meet many of the locals and Billy the Bartender was the best!! If you are ever in the Garden District, you must visit. It was rated one of the best bars in America and we all agree!!

This truly is deserving of the 3rd "D" in DDD. Once you get past the appearance of the facility and kitchen, you will find great food. We had the roast beef poboy, onion rings and loaded fries. Everything was delicious. It is a small place, about 20 seats. It is on the 2nd floor above a bar.

Downstairs there is a bar, upstairs are a few tables and the kitchen window. One doesnt go to Parasols for the ambiance. If you do you will be disappointed. The food, however, is a different story. The po-boys are great and very large. Give it a try.

Rough but friendly place with good food and beer. The po boys were really tasty - don't order the large portion unless you eat for two.

I was excited to come here on the review of Guy Fieri and Tripple D. Got past the old run down interior with high hopes of great foid! Must be under new management or kitchen crew because the roast beef po boy was bland and hard to finish because my jaw started locking up from chewing the beef. Asked for... More

My wife, sister in-law and I were walking around the Garden district and I had planned on coming to Parasol's for lunch. I knew both of the ladies would have objected to coming here if they knew what it looked like beforehand, so I kept it a secret. I had heard of this place from an acquaintance and I had... More

There is simply no denying this place is a dive! its on the edge of a more "questionable" part of town and the bar clientele is eclectic to say the least. Don't let the dive appearance and meager furnishings deter you from this foodie paradise. Make your way through the divy, even seedy bar back to the "restaurant." Step up... More

Clearly I just don't get what it is about an oversized, overly sloppy sandwich with poor quality meat that everyone seems to rave about.

Gargantuous amounts of food. The orders were large and delicious. The waiters/employees were great. A must visit.

Born in 1952, in the Irish Channel neighborhood, Parasol's is a New Orleans tradition that is known as THE place to go for roast beef po boys, and a huge St. Patricks Day block party. We are a neighborhood bar to the world, where everyone is welcome and treated like an old friend. Our kitchen is dedicated to taking old school New Orleans food to a new level of flavor and quality. Belly up to the old Irish bar and enjoy a pint of Guiness or wander upstairs to our smoke free dining room. You can indulge in our delicious food either way. Parasol's is a throw back to a simpler time when the social life of the neighborhood centered around the corner bar. A place where the stuff of life is discussed, celebrated and even mourned. At Parasol's it's all about you !

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
