My husband and I love Johnny's Po-Boys! By far the Best Po-Boys in New Orleans. Be prepared for a long line. Credit cards are NOT ACCEPTED :-(

Went early in the morning so avoid the line ups I had read about. Attempted to order 4 po'boys on a Friday around 9:30am and they only had enough bread for 2...wha??? Ended up ordering a Shrimp and a Johnny's Special. The Shrimp was good, we all enjoyed it (now that I had to share two sandwiches with 4 people)... More

When you walk in the counter area is extremely crowded and the seating in that room is very limited. It opens up into a back room & upstairs seating. Coming from Philly their French bread isn't very good but the ingredients were very tasty. The sandwich is huge & I was able to share. Make sure you get it dressed... More

I read lots of po'boy reviews and Jonny's seemed to be the favorite. But we were disappointed. Funky vintage atmosphere, personable staff, but the sandwiches were mostly bread. Good bread, but that didn't make up for the stingy thrown-together fillings (I got catfish, hubby got pastrami). Shockingly expensive, too. I live near Philly, where hoagie-making is an art form, so... More

I'd read this was a great place to stop for a po boy in the French Quarter. It was very busy when we walked in, but the line was actually very short. I ordered a roast beef po boy and a bag of chips. It was ready pretty quickly. The sandwich was huge and more than enough for both of... More

Very good choices and reasonable prices. Very Fresh. Hard to get a seat as it gets very busy but you can always get you Po-Boy to go.

In search of the perfect po boy (husband) and fried shrimp (me) we found Johnny's. It's definitely a hole in the wall and we had high expectations. Hubby's po boy was good, not great, and my shrimp were OK. The fries, however, were excellent. My salad consisted of shredded lettuce (sandwich topping), a tomato and a pickle with a mysterious... This is my 3rd trip to johnny's, and I can only sum it up this way- with a sketchy atomosphere, limited seating, huge wait, and generally rude workers, the food must be excellent and reasonably priced. It is not. At 17 bucks for a 10 inch shrimp po-boy ( sub-sandwich) and a coke, one wonders why this place is rocking.... More

We went for the mufaletta on the advice of guide books. I must say that the sandwich was nice (a little more garlicky than I would like), but I'm not so sure the wait was worth it. Went and tried the seafood mufaletta as well - again, pleasant enough, but not worth the wait. Definitely try this place but be... More

Do not get what the fuss about Johnny's. If there is no queue, it's a tick in the tourist box, part of experience. If there is queue, go Subway instead. Nothing special.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
