Had never had oysters in my life and the char-grilled oysters were amazing! The waiter took 4 peoples orders, from memory, and got it completely correct! The whole menu was terrific!

My husband and I were told by a friend that we had to eat the charbroiled oysters here while we were visiting the city. It seems like a popular tourist destination, which isn't usually our thing so we were a little hesitant. My husband has sworn his whole life that he hates oysters, but tried one here to be a... I'm not a huge oyster fan but wanted to try the Chargrilled Oysters. They were excellent, full of garlic, butter and spices. Their hush puppies were tender and nicely seasoned. Fried Peacemaker (Shrimp and Oyster) Po-Boy has a Tabasco Mayo. Drinks were great, Service fast and efficient. There is a line to get in but wait was only 20 minutes... More

Thank Goodness the city has repaved the street in front of Acme's and it is no longer the muddle/small lake it turned into when it rains. It seems there is always some sort of line of customers waiting to get in this place. It's the Mecca of Oysters on the Shell and Fried Oyster Poboys. Seriously, if oysters aren't your... More

We saw the line out the door several times so stopped by for an early dinner around 5p. We were in the mood for local food so ordered the mixed new Orleans platters with fried Andouille, red beans, and jambalaya, all very tasty with reasonable spice. The place was packed and we shared a table with two others but still... More

This restaurant is well worth the long lines to wait. The chargrilled oysters are the best I have tasted anywhere. Waiters are attentive, and the prices reasonable. Lively atmosphere! Do not go there if you want a quiet dinner, but then...why would you go to New Orleans if you wanted quiet!?!

I never take a trip to NOLA without visiting my most favorite Oyster house. I am in heaven with their fresh oysters and laid back atmosphere. The place gets super packed so try to go anytime between mayber 2:30 and 5. Don't let the line outside scare you away- it moves pretty fast

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
