Stopped by this very cool but quirky little bar and had an adult beverage (or 2). They specialize in Absenthe which was really amazing. All the employees dress up in pirate garb and are very friendly.

At the back of the cabildo and in the French quarter. Food ok, service ok, must try the muffeletas, local sandwich.

This is a quaint bar on "Pirate's Alley", a small cobblestone alley off the side of St. Louis Cathedral. We were actually on our way to 5pm Mass at the Cathedral when we discovered the bar, and since we were early we found ourselves drawn...More

Located in New Orleans on Pirate's Alley (right behind the cathedral in Jackson Square), Pirates Alley Cafe is an unique spot everyone should visit while in Nola's French Quarter! Pirate's Alley Cafe is a pirate-themed bar, but what sets them apart from the other bars...More

It was so quaint and warm and friendly by the fire drinking absinthe, we barely remember walking back to the hotel. Thanks for a great afternoon and we will be back.

Maybe have an actual sample size? Rather than our group (I'm sure you remeber) sampling them ALL and having a bit too much to drink. Sorry, about that. What a great New Orleans tradition, day drinking and this is the place to do it. Name...More

It’s a nice little bar a few blocks off of Bourbon Street by Jackson Square in pirates alley. They serve a few different types of absinthe. It’s not overly expensive and the bartender was friendly. It’s a small place but nice.

4 of us stopped in to experience this old-time drink. Well, I thought it was good, but others with me thought not. The nice thing is that the bartender allowed us to split as couples 2 drinks so we were able to sample it rather...More

Right on Pirate's Alley, this is a cozy little bar. They serve great Bloody Mary's, one of the best in the Quarter (trust me, I tried them all). When you sit outside you literally feel like you're in some other country, greatest feeling in the...More

Though we just stopped here for a drink while on a tour, it was a pleasant stop. Other places serve absinthe, and though they don't light it in fire here, it's probably a little more sedate and frankly, cleaner here than at "Olde Absinthe House"....More

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty
Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port
of call for folks in search of a good time and a great
story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs
across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied
around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

The European wine industry quashed absinthe consumption with a smear campaign that lasted into the 1900s. The original liquor was often served with laudumun (a version of heroin) so it was a medicinal tonic of the day and... More
