When I travel I tried to find somewhere that the locals hangout something simple breakfast is not over priced and this is the place. The small town diner in a big city. Western Omelet was $7.75. I'd stop in again.

A rotating list of daily specials at great price points makes this a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. Plenty of locals and good neighborhood spot.

An out of the way little restaurant that serves big portions. Small dining area, but a good variety of food including seafood, burgers, specials of the day, and sandwiches. They have the best fish and best lemonade!

Was looking for a good greasy spoon breakfast spot and I figured this diner would be perfect. Alas they had already switched over to a lunch menu but why not fried shrimp for brunch. Inexpensive and fast with friendly service and a counter plus I'll assume a daily rotating menu.

If you're in the hood from breakfast till mid afternoon you can get it all here. Inexpensive breakfasts ($4 eggs, bacon, biscuit, grits) and poorboys, BLT, you name it--a nice stop if you're jetting around town. Friendly owner and waitress--local, informal, attentive.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
