What a treasure of a place! We shared the eggplant with sweet pepper aioli , the scrumptious crawfish beignets, and an absolutely wonderful crab salad--and then, lemon icebox cake and housemade peppermint ice cream. Can't say enough about the ambiance, service and delicious food!

Best place we ate at during our 5 days in New Orleans. I'd put it in the category of just an excellent gourmet restaurant with a creole and southern flare ... not really the place to go to have "cajun" or "creole" food per se. But I can't imagine I won't return next time I am in New Orleans. My... More

Clancy's came highly recommended by a friend who grew up in NOLA. Unfortunately we did not have a reservation but arrived early enough to sit at the bar and eat. Met super nice people and the food was fabulous. It was fresh, hot, and the taste was amazing. A definite must when you visit.

Went here during Mardis Gras. Everything was great. Due to the parades it took us over an hour to get there (4 miles). I called to inform them we would be late for our reservation and they told us no problem. When we got there it felt like home. Although we did not know anyone it appeared everyone else did... More

Some folks I met at home in Memphis highly recommend Clancy's as the place to go. They suggested that I call and make reservations. So I did. One while month before coming to New Orleans. So I have been looking forward to this for a while. We arrived exactly on time for our seating and we were shown to a... More

Group dinner on a Thursday night in this quaint little neighborhood gem located "up town" north of New Orleans' famous Garden District. We had 11 people for dinner...and literally EVERYONE fell in love with their individual dishes, the service, the atmosphere, and the wine list. Martin was our table captain...this man knows his stuff and took care of us without... More

While visiting a friend uptown I walked over to Clancys. Sat at the bar with Marvin my bartender. Got offered a taste of wine by the owner Brad as he tasted a distributors fares. I declined to just have some French Market chicory. I wasn't overly hungry so I chose to try their Duck and Andouille Gumbo. Absolutely fantastic, it... More

This small restaurant is uptown not in the French Quarter. Since we were staying in the Garden District it was very convenient. We called ahead and couldn't get a reservation for the same night but they said first come first served at the bar, same food same service. We were starving so we went for an early dinner and sat... We had a fabulous meal at Clancy's. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. The wait staff checked on us often which we appreciated. From salads to dessert the ingredients were fresh and put together in tasty combinations.

Hard to get reservation and packed restaurant when we got there. Off the beaten path, not near any other business. Maybe that is why a security guard is out front. Atmosphere is "eh" for such a well- known place. Food was only ok; same for service. Our least favorite dinner of five at good Nola restaurants. And not inexpensive.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
