In NOLA for our 40th wedding anniversary, we chose Muriel's for that night and were not disappointed. We did have about a 20 min. wait in spite of having a confirmed reservation. That said, it's like that in every good restaurant in the French Quarter. If it isn't, I would be hesitant to dine there. Muriel's requires reservations and has... More

Recently my family and I spent time in New Orleans and to finish up our time, we found Muriel's on TripAdvisor. What a find! The gumbo was superb and everyone (including fussy teenage boys) enjoyed their meals. Our waitresses were very attentive and helpful. It was a perfect way to end our time in New Orleans

Visiting NOLA for a weekend celebration for some friends' 25th anniversary and they held the main dinner at Muriels. An absolutely perfect evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful, quirky, historic -- a feast for the eyes. The service was impeccable. Never far away, but never intrusive. And the food was fantastic. We had two pre-fixe menu choices given the size... More

Let me start this review by saying I am not a "foodie"; merely someone who enjoys eating. :) I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a few years now (we come once/year), and this is the first time we have built in time to do it. We had a reservation early in the evening but changed it because... More

Of all the places we over the course of our visit to New Orleanes, Muriel's was the highest quality and had the best service. We arrived about half an hour early for our reservation and, as they were busy, we had a cocktail at their bar before our table was ready. Our servers (yes, plural!), Jenny and Greg could not... We only heard of Muriels during a ghost walk we attended the first night of our trip. Walking by the place, I was immediately drawn in by the historic ambience of the place. Also, the place was full to brimming (a positive sign). The ghost history is available on their website and have charmingly have a permanent reserved table for... More

We went to Muriel's for brunch on out last day in NOLA, it was fantastic. The service was great and the jazz roaming from room to room made it entertaining also. The eggs Veney were only similar to anything I have ever eaten, and I will be looking for them up north every time I go out to breakfast from... More

First time eating lunch here. Missing the regular eats we get at dinner, but what they served was great.Stuffed Mirliton Shrimp creole & andouille stuffing, baked and served with a roasted creole tomato sauce

Hubby and I (locals) and my mom for dinner for Reveillion (special fix price meals meant to get locals out to restaurants). We live uptown and seldom (read: never) go to the Quarter to eat. This was honestly one of the best meals we have ever had with some of the best service we have ever had. Fried oyster soup... More

Description
The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers New Orleans classics like Gumbo, BBQ Shrimp, Oysters "Muriel", Turtle soup, Fried Gulf Shrimp Po-boy, Crabmeat Imperial, Shrimp Remoulade & contemporary Creole cuisine like Pecan Crusted Drum & Wood Grilled Tuna while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks & appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer & The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic & checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville & when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's best bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, & is the perfect spot for an intimate conversation & a drink amongst its plush surroundings.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
