A larger group of family members recently went to Tomas Bistro for a special occasion one Sunday evening. Excellent food (particularly the appetizers). Excellent service from James and Mya. A very pleasant space and a very enjoyable evening.

I was with a very large group of people and had a five course meal. Usually places like this screw up these kind of programs. Not this place. There was not one course that was even mediocre. The gumbo had just the right amount of kick to make it delectable. The salad was perfect - classic tossed salad with a... More

We were wondering around this section of town waiting for our dinner reservation at another restaurant and peeked in at Tomas and decided to go in. The staff was very welcoming - we grabbed two seats at the bar, had a very nice conversation with the bartender and have to say the food smelled delicious. Drinks were great! Service great!

After searching for places to dine in New Orleans when we stopped for the night, we came across Tomas Bistro on OpenTable and it sounded appealing. Having been to a few restaurants in New Orleans (M Bistro, etc.), Tomas Bistro is definitely a must-visit! The food was presented well, all tasted great, and the atmosphere has that southern charm tucked... More

What a fantastic little spot! Fellow Yelper Jeff C. suggested that we try this place and since I had heard a lot of good things about it, I was down. This cozy little restaurant on Tchoupitoulas is the perfect spot for a date night or a celebration. We made reservations for 8, and although we were a few minutes late,... More

We had a table of six. They initially had us at a small table (4 top and they tried to squeeze 6) and we asked to move which they kindly did. Wine list was good and the food selection was as well. Everyone was happy with their food which came out timely and as requested. The menu had a mixture... More

Some of the best steaks in New Orleans. My wife had the Ribeye and I had the Carpetbagger Filet. Both were done perfectly !!!! The only thing my wife wishes is that there was a vegetable instead of potatoes with hers. And there is a Crape app. with Goat Chesse and Seafood that is a Must Order !!! My bill... More

The music which in many ways sets the ambiance, was stop and go!! After a while it got pretty annoying. Too many breaks. Maybe a bad internet connection? The service was bored. Waiter did not describe the specials for the day. I was alone. So I suppose did not represent a high bill for the evening. Nevertheless, I expected better.... More

Loved this restaurant. The service and atmosphere and food were excellent. There were 8 of us so we really did have a sampling of the menu because we all had to have a little taste of everyone elses meal. My husband had the carpetbagger steak which was a filet mignon with oysters he said it was one of the best... More

Good alternative to the French Quarter touristic craziness. Relaxed atmosphere ,the place it`s located in the Warehouse District and was an old factory. Perfect for business or romantic dining experience. Would not suggest for families with toddlers. We visited for dinner; the place resulted a little dark inside due to the mahogany wood furniture and old French peculiar décor however... More

Description
Tomas Bistro is an upscale restaurant located in one of New Orleans most exciting and fashionable neighborhoods, the Warehouse District. In a city that takes dining so seriously, Tomas Bistro is a local favorite. At Tomas Bistro the food is classic Creole French. This distinctive style originated in the late 1800s when a wave of French immigrants settled in the French Quarter. Forty years later the Creole neighborhood was transformed into an ethnic stronghold of French and Italian cuisine. Tomas Bistro serves the finest in Creole French Cuisine including Cassoulet, Onion Soup and Seafood from the Gulf of Mexico.

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
