The food here was decent, nothing that wowed me, the service was rather slow, but the worst was that we could barely hold a conversation because it was so loud. After living in Nola I can attest that there are far better restaurants, especially on Magazine street. I'd skip this one.

After walking around the garden district we stopped in here to rest our legs and grab a refreshing drink. Great location right on Magazine St.

I came to Salu with a big group of friends and it was fabulous! The service was great, and the food came out quickly. Located right on Magazine Street, it's the perfect place to stop for lunch as your walking around.

This is a great location on Magazine street. But, don't waste your time or money. I have been several times to Salu, hoping my experience would improve. Unfortunately, every time I go to Salu, the service is very slow. One time, for dinner with friends, we walked out because no one ever came to wait on us. The food is... More

We ate lunch at Salu while exploring the Garden District and Magazine St. The Matre d (?) was very kind and inviting and so we gave it a shot. We had a mêlange of small plates that included grilled octopus, flat bread with sausage and fennel and bacon wrapped prawn among others. The food was good but not a good... More

This is my favorite place for happy hour. All drinks are 50% off. My favorite drink is the Magazine street martini - a must if you like pomengranate. In the past all mussells and flatbreads were 50% off as well, now there is a limited menu with specific offerings. The roasted beet salad was excellent!

We went for lunch and the beat salad was great. The chicken stuffed with cheese and flash fried spinach was a tad dry, but it had a sauce on it to make up for it. This place was nice to get away from the deep fried foods NOLA usually offers.

Great happy hour prices on mussels and flatbreads. I also had the Cochon and Bacon Frites - so great. Definitely order that if it is on the menu.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
