A friend told me I had to go here. I always thought the Desire Oyster Bar had the best. My first clue should have been the dining room that looked like a cafeteria. The menu said they were famous for their chargrilled oysters. The menu was wrong. The oysters were small. The Parmesan cheese was barely warm. The butter didn't... More

I have been to New Orleans many times and heard Drago's was THE place to eat; the chargrilled oysters were said to be the best NOLA offered. Well...I ate them and think Acme's Oyster House is better. True, the restaurant was crowded, but I did not feel as though I were in New Orlean. I could have been in Chicago,... More

We decided to go for lunch because of a family recommendation to get char grilled oysters. We also ordered a lobster pasta dish to split. I wish we would have just ordered 2 orders of oysters. They were so delicious. The lobster dish was good also, but didn't really compare. I've had good char grilled oysters, but something was different... More

We weren't sure what place to eat at after a walking tour. We settled for the hotel restaurant. I can tell you we did not settle. The menu was diverse quality was top notch pricing was what was expected and a good value. Service was quick and I love the open kitchen

Several places in NOLA are "known" for their chargrilled oysters. But a good friend from the area recommended this place because everything they make is good. He was not wrong. We went late on a Saturday night and it was packed. We sat at the bar and the beers and oysters just went together. Nice atmosphere and very good food.... More

Enjoyed a nice evening of dining with friends. Charbroiled oysters are very good (didn't realize they would shrink that much) and entrees were good all around. Very busy on Saturday nite.

As this is the main restaurant of the Hilton to which it is attached, it can get extremely busy, booking advised. However if you are dinning alone or in a couple and don't mind sitting at the bar (the menu is the same) they can often seat you without a reservation. I ordered the charbroiled lobster and potatoes which came... More

Food was great, and just when we step up for go, we asked a waitress to takes us a picture his answers was "I am too busy". The second one we ask for the same his response was "hold on a minute". Food is average in restaurant, what makes me return to a restaurant is the attentions.

We have gone to Dragos for many years with some meals clearly better than others. However the oysters have never disappointed. We were most excited when we learned the restaurant had a new manager about 6 months ago and could tell as the food and service were noticeably better. After a 5 hour drive to the city last night we... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
