It was delicious but after two, third wasn't aa good. Waiting line is pretty long and they accept cash only, so be ready with cash.

Oh my lord everyone needs to go here simply for those little doughnut things covered in icing sugar! It's a massive choking hazard but worth the breathlessness of sugar inhalation. Get in the take away line for a speedy satisfying fix. I wouldn't bother sitting down.

Went with my husband and kids. Fast service, INCREDIBLE beignets and coffee. My little one enjoyed the hot chocolate too. A MUST STOP in NOLA for sure!

It's a cliche place to visit. But there's a reason for it. the begneits (sp) are AWESOME and coffee was great. Don't be freaked out by the lines, it moves pretty fast. Definitely recommend.

The cafe a lait is delicious, and the beignets are delicious. Is it a bit touristy? Yes. Does it matter? No. Go later at night, the lines are shorter.

It was crowded and there we had to wait, but once we ordered the service was quick and everything was delicious. The only negative is that its hard to order seconds since you pay the waiter when you order rather than after you eat, and once they deliver your order they won't come back to see if you want anything... There is probably not much left to say about these! They are delicious, the atmosphere of the location is fun and busy and the waiters are amazingly skilled in handling large numbers of people. Do not eat these while wearing any dark clothing! We also very much enjoyed beignets next-door at New Orleans Famous Beignets and Coffee, which were slightly... More

While visiting the French Quarter we made a point to walk the river walk from Canal St along the Mississippi River to Cafe du Monde to feast on the famous beignet donuts. Service is very quick as there are many servers, coffee is hot and delicious and the beignets seemed to float above the serving plate but weighed down by... More

OK so Cafe De Monde is not the only place you'll visit in the big N.O. Yeah you'll want to see all the major tourist spots, eat some authentic foods, have a daquiri or two, grab or throw some beads and just have a great time. But then before it's all said and done, at one point you'll end up... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
