There are lots of places for Beignets in New Orleans, but I guess this is where they began. However, there are also BETTER places for beignets and much less busy places than Cafe Du Monde. Go for the experience, but be sure to try other places as well. The staff also just expects you to know how the orders work... More

Great beignets and good coffee. We walked right in on a Thursday morning around 10 and were quickly served. The beignets were hot and delicious as was the coffee. Keep in mind it's cash only.

Cafe du Monde deserves the hype. Even with a long line the wait isn't long, and well worth it. Coffee and beignets are delicious. Staff were very accommodating with our 6 person party. Can't wait to return.

Yum! Definitely a place to visit! The service was great and the food was even better. Tastes like a thick funnel cake.

I was really excited to visit this place and quite disappointed when I did. Honestly, what is the fuss about? The hot beverages are luke warm and better beignets are found elsewhere. Their shop is expensive as well. You can find the same chicory-coffee mix at cheaper prices in and outside New Orleans. Spare yourself the weight of carrying the... More

Cafe Dumonde in New Orleans is one of the must see attractions. They serve bengines the famous NOLA pastry. Fried dough covered by powdered sugar. Very sweet. Messy and without the use of sugar, no big deal.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
