Had been wanting to try this place for some time. The hotel itself is very sleek, modern, and Euro-styling. I had heard good things about the restaurant/bar, and stopped by after work with a friend. We sat outside and had a great evening. The small plates/appetizers are enough for dinner if you want something light or to take the edge... More

WiscPedalGal, Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. Good or bad, we truly appreciate hearing what our guests have to say. And thank for taking advantage of our outdoor patio area! There's something about kicking back and relaxing with a beautiful view of Camp Randall in the background. And you should see it on football Saturdays!... More

It was restaurant week and my friend and I decided to try the Wise in Hotel Red, Madison, WI. I selected the gazpacho soup, chicken salad on a croissant, and a decadent torte that tasted just like fudge. Our server, Paige, was so attentive. We really enjoyed our overall experience. Restaurant week prices are also very affordable.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch having not been here before. The food was great, very interesting and thoughtfully prepared. The decor is metro chic with great out door seating and the bar looks like it would be a fun place to meet friends. We will definitely come again and bring friends.

We enjoyed a beet/spinach salad, Moscow Mules, and tea-to-go at this stop of the Monroe Street walking food tour with Madison Food Explorers. We even got some of the chocolates that are specially made for Hotel Red. Very modern/clean. Would like to come back for the happy hour deals.

Both the bar and restaurant at The Wise are chic yet inviting. Every bartender and waitstaff my friend and I encountered were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The spring cocktail menu is unique and delicious, and while we just missed getting to try the spring dinner menu, everything on the winter menu looked fantastic. We split the OUTRAGEOUSLY tasty mac n'... More

Great food, atmosphere and energy. The staff was friendly and very engaging. The Grilled Cheese was nuts (it had bacon). The scenery was chic but not over the top. Get to this impressive spot and enjoy. The head chef even checked in on us during lunch!

I had dinner here tonight and found the menu limited and the food ridiculously miniscule and expensive. I ordered the duck and wish I would have taken a picture of this dish. There was about 2 tbps. of a cranberry relish, literally 6 pieces of baby asparagus no more than 3 inches in length and two small dry pieces of... More

My name is John Bauer and I am the chef here at The Wise. I would like to apologize for what was obviously a terrible experience here at our restauant. We take pride in our small, shared plate style menu and there is no excuse for for us having let you down with our offerings. I take your feedback very... More

Love The Wise. Have been to Hotel Red several times for different occasions and the apps & drinks are wonderful and the atmosphere is divine. It really offers a unique setting with a great view of Camp Randall across the street. Been here for a 40th birthday celebration where the couple rented a room and had apps delivered to the... More

Had lunch at the Wise one fall day in Madison. The atmosphere is open and people watching friendly. I had the Chili and honey chicken sandwich, it was fantastic. So many different flavors melded together, made my taste buds dance. I would of never imagined chicken sandwich with :Chili, Honey, Pear etc.... Brilliant. The ingredients on the menu are locally... We have tried several desserts at The Wise and all were delicious. The local paper included chef John Bauer's recipe for an olive oil cake that we also have now made at home - amazing!

Description
The Wise is a great meeting place for lunch, cocktails and evening dining. We host a number of events and neighborhood gatherings each month as well serving our plated weekend brunch on Saturday and Sundays. Seasonal food and drink menus focus on area producers, farmers and ranchers. Badger fans love the view of Camp Randall stadium and the Vilas/Monroe Street area is an amazing part of town! Stop in and see us for William Hill Wednesday with LIVE music by Patrick Ferguson and $5 glasses of William Hill wine.
