Had business lunch here today and food was good. The pulled pork is the way to go since it is really BBQ and smoked nearby on premises . I understand the BBQ chicken and sliced pork BBQ are not BBQ and not smoked. Roasted meat...More

I was looking forward to finding the best local BBQ I could while passing through Greensboro. I discovered this restaurant through Tripadvisor and it is the only recommendation that I have ever disagreed with. The food was bland, the BBQ sauce was so plain I...More

I typically don't like barbeque but I enjoyed this! No frills, traditional type barbeque establishment but the food is GOOD!!! Service is friendly and quick--menu very simple and straightforward. I had the pulled pork sandwich--delish!!! Slaw served on top so if you don't like that...More

We enjoyed our visit to Stamey's from our first step inside the door. The charm of the atmosphere, the hospitality of the staff and the friendly North Carolinians make you feel welcome and relaxed. The menu is not extensive but truly authentic and does not...More

Stamey's just recently started offering breakfast and I think it's the best thing they serve. The Lexington style pulled pork is good but the ham biscuit is the best!

Other menu items may rate no better than mediocre, but the barbecue here is fantastic, perhaps the best I have ever had.

Stamey's has been at the same place in Greensboro for many many years. Maybe because I grew up eating their BBQ sandwiches before all the other BBQ places popped up but Stamey's has the BBQ I compare others too. If it isn't Stamey's BBQ, truth...More

We went to Stamey' s on a trip thru Greensboro with my 86 year old father. Back when he lived in Greensboro, 25 years ago, it was one of his favorite places to go for lunch. The menu is so limited, and it is as...More

In town for USA Fencing's Piedmont Challenge tournament, we visited this local favorite and were not disappointed. Delicious North Carolina-style barbecue! Our group tried the pork barbecue and the chicken barbecue. Both were excellent! For a truly local taste treat, try the all-the-way hot dog...More

Most barbecue restaurants have introduced gas or electric cooking methods, but not us! We still slow cook our barbecue over a pit of hardwood hickory coals. The brick pits are completely enclosed, except for a bit of breathing room at the bottom. The hardwood coals are carefully monitored because they will dry the face of the pork if they get too hot. As each 15-pound pork shoulder cooks, the drippings fall onto the hot coals, sending the hickory smoke flavor into the pork. Once the tender pork is done, it is chopped or sliced to order, ensuring the freshest plate for our customers. No meal is complete without at least some of Stamey's keys to lasting barbecue success: Wood Cooked Pork Barbecue, Smiling service, Stamey's slaw, Fresh Brewed Sweet tea, Homemade cobbler and Hot Hushpuppies (introduced to North Carolina barbecue diners by founder Warner Stamey, himself!)
