Big John's is best

If you want BBQ then Big John's is the place to go. The pulled beef brisket that melts in your mouth, coleslaw and the pulled beef nachos were the best i have had anywhere in the world. The service was quick and the atmosphere was great, we even got too chat with the pit master and take some amazing pictures. Big John's was recommended to me by a friend in Australia and boy he was right. If you can't find something on the menu to enjoy, you would be hard to please. The menu was great and the price for 3 adults was under $50.

Big John's Texas BBQ

If you are looking for a tasty BBQ, generous portions, and exceptional service, Big John's Texas Barbecue in Page, Arizona is the place to eat. Recommended by travellers from Australia, the menu did not disappoint. The smoked brisket, pulled beef nachos and coleslaw were easily shareable and very affordable. The setting was relaxed, the service was quick, and the staff were friendly. Our waitress Vicki was personable and didn't hesitate to stop for a chat, and we even met the pit master himself.

Good BBQ & Live Music

It is a place to go, especially for those who are not from USA or might have not experienced much the great Texan BBQ, Country music and "far west" environment. Food is really good and while enjoying live music is a plus. It gets quite crowded in the evenings, so either you go early, or you can expect queuing. They do have beer (you wont find wine though). I liked the experienced and I would recommend it to my friends from abroad.

Marginal at best

We chose this restaurant based on hotel staff recommendations and decided to sit inside given a chilly evening. The inside seating was very cramped and given overhead fans going we would have been better off to sit outside with heaters next to tables. The wait staff was prompt and reasonably friendly, however, when our food arrived it was barely warm, tasteless poorly presented and overpriced. We will never return to this restaurant.

Absolutely horrible

We went to this restaurant based on the high trip advisor ratings. It was incredibly disappointing and we are now hoping we don’t get sick. I had pulled pork and it was both tasteless and cold. It was inedible. My brother had the sampler plate. Most of his meat was cold and the brisket, link and pork were also tasteless. The only edible meat off his plate was the ribs, but the portion of the sampler plate was quite small for just under $20. On a positive note, the serve was good and the cornbread was very moist and tasty. Overall, I would NOT recommend this restaurant. We are not picky eaters but the meal was inedible. We had eaten at tavern 49 the night before and wish we’d just returned there.

Were sorry you had a bad experience most people that come to our restaurant really enjoy their barbecue. The flavor of smoked meat is smoke, which we do smoke all of our meat for hours over wood. We would hope that if your food was cold you told your server so they could bring you another plate. On the sampler plate everything‘s a smaller portion because it’s a sampler.

A hot evening with music and BBQ

Big John’s Texas BBQ was in Page which was a small town in Arizona and near the border with Utah. The restaurant had some big meat smoking machines at the front of the restaurant. Smoke and smell came out from these machines. There was a big outdoor dinning area with a performance stage. The band was Echo Cliffs Cattle Company. I ordered The Sampler which had chopped brisket, pulled pork, ribs and hot links. The ribs was tender and good flavored. The hot links had the right hotness. The pulled pork and chopped brisket had good flavor but were a bit dry. The waitstaffs were all friendly and attentive. The air temperature was still hot in the early evening. The outside dinning area was packed with people. The music was great. With the smoke coming out from the smokers, a couple was dancing with the country music, it was a good evening in this small town.

Decent BBQ, good atmosphere

Four friends stopped for lunch on a parks tour of northern Arizona and southern Utah. Enjoyed the outside seating The service was fast and efficient throughout the meal. I had the barbecue chicken plate, and it was all good--all of us enjoyed our food. My only complaint was that the portions were too small, which detracted from the otherwise reasonable price for the meal.

Good food at decent prices.

Good food at decent prices. But, the cole slaw is excellent! Ambiance, decent liquor selection and recycling lacking. We shared a combo plate and ribs and all was good. It is Texas BBQ so add your own sauce. Ribs were falling off the bone tender. We shared peach cobbler and ice cream - don’t bother with this - sickly sweet with peaches from a can

On a recent visit 9/7 decided to have a nice meal out. The food was over priced and not good. 6 pork ribs were $14. None of the workers wore masks. Even though we were eating outside they should have had on masks. The nacho's and cheese were what you would get at a movie theater with a little brisket on top for $11.25. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

OMG ..THIS PLACE WAS GREAT

Please note that if you want to eat at Big John’s during the summer..and probably at other times of the year as well you need to get there early….otherwise you will be standing/waiting for a long time…though absolutely worth it. The inside does not have a great deal of seats and the outside, where they have nightly concerts, seemed to have more. The wife is not fond of BBQ. We don’t go out to eat often however when you are on vacation…you gotsa do what you gotsa do. Anyway the brisket was incredible..both taste, portion, and price. The wife had chicken..and as mentioned before she isn’t keen on BBQ but she did eat it. When in Page,….( and I’d bet that all who have boats at Lake Powell have to eat here at least once a week,) you have to stop here…unless you are a vegetarian of course LOL

As a Southerner I was underwhelmed

The sauces were pretty good. The meat was also somewhere between good and pretty good. However, the sides were pretty darn disappointing. Only choices are really a mediocre potato salad and "cowboy beans" which are just pinto beans with some bits of pulled pork in them. They have a good cornbread muffin side but you aren't allowed to sub it in place of the meh potato salad on your meal, even though the cornbread muffin is cheaper on its own than potato salad on its own (I assume this is just so you order it on its own so they can make more money). Someone who is not from the southeast and doesn't eat BBQ very much would enjoy this a lot, a BBQ aficionado would likely be disappointed some.

Best BBQ

Traveled through Page, AZ and needed to stop for a place to eat. I saw the reviews for this place, and they don't do it justice. I would give this place six stars if possible. Absolutely the best BBQ I've experienced ever. Had to eat outdoors since covid 19, who cares it's bbq. Some reviewers complained about price, please, quality food that tastes amazing isn't going to be the cheapest around, go eat at a fast food place. Only complaint I have, I'm not gong to be able to get such BBQ anywhere besides here.

Smokin' barbeque with friendly service and great decor!

These people care about their barbeque. When I asked the server whether I should have the beef or the pork, she said: "I've seen them both and they both look really good today!". I was impressed that she cared enough to suggest that some days one or the other was the better choice. The cole slaw is rally good as well!

Big John’s BBQ- don’t miss out by not going.

Big John’s TX BBQ in Page, AZ was a great experience, from food to the employees who served us. We went with their food recommendations and were very happy. In fact on our return from UT through Page, we went back as I had left my credit card. Big John’s staff had saved it for me and it was a relief to have the card back. We agree that the BBQ brisket sandwiches were some of the best brisket ever. Highly recommend Big John’s if you want great BBQ and very friendly people. The roasted peanuts on the table are an added bonus. I have had many good meals at different restaurants, but the whole experience from low key and good ambience, friendly employees and great BBQ was overall a wonderful experience.

Big John’s, Big Flavor, Big Smile!

If we lived it Page, this would be a regular spot for us! Big John's offers great food and comparable service. We ate outside where they have about 20 tables and picnic tables (there were about eight tables inside). It's an old gas station that they renovated into a cool looking (and clean) restaurant. They also have live music on some nights. We shared the sampler of ribs, links, pork, brisket and beans and potato salad on this side. Each item was great. They have two sauces (regular and hot) and both were flavorful. They have three very large grills/smokers out in front cooking the meats for the day. They don’t skimp on the quality of their products. The service was very friendly and the outdoor area is covered so you're out of the sun. We will definitely visit again if we're in the area. One of our favorite stops!
