We ate here twice during our stay in West Glacier. The food and drink was consistently good and I would certainly go back. The charcuterie board was a really nice starter. The steak was better than the bison meatloaf. Cocktails were varied and refreshing using local spirits when possible. Reservations are recommended to obtain outdoor seating on the deck. This is bright with the afternoon sun and right on the high way but their are umbrellas and the view is still good. Plus you do get the experience of the train . Indoor dining is rustic and charming. Seating has been reduced for social distancing and the staff were using masks, etc. I felt comfortable with the experience.

Our experience at the Belton was similar to experiences we’ve had in other national park lodges that are staffed primarily with college students from around the country. While they are always fun to talk to, engaging and interesting, it’s never quite the professional experience one gets elsewhere. So, weird things happen, like dinner being served while my husband was in the bathroom. Awkward!
Based on the website, I thought we’d be eating in a romantic, historic building. Historic it was, and also crammed full of diners, brightly lit, and noisy. We both had the fish (Flathead Lake Trout) which was very good and well prepared with a smear of pureed butternut squash and some broccolini. The squash was particularly good; I wish there had been a full serving of that and not just the pretty smear. We also had the beignets, which were easily the highlight of the meal, smothered in huckleberry and resting on a bit of cheesecake.
The Belton is worth a visit. Be sure to make a reservation as they are very busy.

We enjoyed a lovely Saturday evening at the historic Belton Chalet Dining Room. Our server, Patrick, was knowledgeable about the menu and provided expert service. The lobster hush puppies were a fun twist on one of our favorite southern foods. Our entrees were local trout, beautifully presented with squash puree and brocolini. Eating locally produced foods is an experience we seek out. Belton Chalet partners with area farms to bring fresh, seasonable fare to their diners. We used Open Table to make a reservation. Remember to book early for this popular spot.

It's really not as good as they think they are. The service was fair at best. Various items weren't available. The food came out ice cold and then it took forever to get hot meals. We almost left and but then the remade meals appeared. Nothing too special in terms of food quality. One of the meals was scallops, which you should avoid as it was very expensive and a very small portion.

The wait staff and front of house was amazing. That’s the only good thing I can say. The kitchen staff was slow and couldn’t prepare a $50 steak correctly when given two opportunities … needless to say the restaurant ate the cost for both. Don’t waste your time plenty of other quality spots in the area.

Don’t go there if you are hungry and not rich. The food was good. But the cost was outrageous. I got the trout which was cooked fine. The meal cost $34. which included 2 small pieces of trout (about 10 fork full bites) with 2 tablespoons of a vegetable purée and 2 stalks of broccolini. I really don’t know how the restaurant justifies the cost. Will not eat there again and will tell friends the same. And you know everyone knows 250 people. Also a 9 oz glass of white wine was $17. Crazy. Never again.

We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the West Glacier area. We had a delicious dinner this evening with Bison Meatloaf and Montana bison pork meatballs served with huckleberry jam, sour cream and puréed potatoes. It really was outstanding and the service was impeccable. You have to try the beignets with huckleberry sauce. This dinner was the highlight meal of our vacation.

The Belton restaurant is casual. Not upscale casual, but hiker level casual. The room seems tired rather than classic. Out of four orders, three were well made. The fourth was described as a beef stew. What came was more of a pureed thick gravy - no chunks of meat, no visible vegetables. Don't know what the chef was thinking on that one. Service was generally good, although our waiter disappeared at one point for a long time. I would say it was a bit on the expensive side for what you get, but then local sit down options are very limited right now.

Such a cute place. SYDNEY was our waitress and she was great! I ordered the Beer- Medium Rare. Omg you could cut it with a butter knife. It was amazing!! The teenager ordered the pasta and loved it. My hubby ordered the fish, very flaky and tender. Everything was absolutely delicious. I would say this is more for adults with the menu choices. The 🍸 drinks are really good too! Nothing bad to say here!! All worth the money!!

Lovely historic hotel and restaurant. Bar is a really nice space, though we only passed through on our way to dinner.
We arrived early for our reservation, and were enjoying drinks and the view on the patio, when our waiter told us that we would not be seated in the dining room for our reservation as we already had a table. That's not what we wanted, and we had to go through two more employees to straighten it out.
Dinner was good, but expensive for the quality. Two members of our party ordered trout, then were told the kitchen had run out and was serving halibut instead. The halibut was overcooked. I violated one of my own rules never to order pasta anyplace other than an Italian restaurant and got the tortellini because I was invested in the elk sausage add on. Iasked the waiter of they made the pasta and she dodged the question. It turned out to be two or three tiny pieces of sausage. The pasta was otherwise OK, but nothing I couldn't have cooked back home.
Bottom line, this is a charming venue, really nice for a drink, but dinner is overpriced.

This was the best meal of our 2 week trip. We had many sandwiches on our trip and were looking forward to having an honest to goodness fine dining meal. The Belton Grill didn't disappoint. We dined in the main entry dining room and Sidney was our very attentive and charming server. We started with the Olive appetizer of which there was enough for all 4 of us. My husband and I split a Market Salad and our friends split a a Kale Caesar Salad. For our main course we had 2 beef filet dinners, a duck and a pork shank dinner. Each was served with accompanying vegetables and a starch. No complaints at all! Every meal was cooked just right and delicious. Definitely the place to eat if you want an upscale dining experience and are tired of fast food, soups, salads and sandwiches.

This restaurant is amazing. First the view of the mountains is perfect and they have plenty of seating outside. But back to the food. I was traveling with two friends and we ended up enjoying dinner here multiple days. The highlights for me were the charcuterie board (everything on it was exactly right). And Then the beef as well as the pasta with the bison were perfectly prepared. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Enjoy!

Yes, best restaurant in West Glacier area. Food was innovative and delicious. Very Disappointed by the sides. Tiny and overpriced. $8 for 3 small asparagus stalks or $4 for some extra crackers? Sorry I had to recoup that from the tip but the service was mediocre too.

Worst wait-service I've ever experienced. We had a very abrupt waiter from Michigan. Just rude.. like we were bothering him. We will dine there again due to lack of choices in the area but we will make sure we do not have the same server. Food was fine.

Great atmosphere, excellent service. I had the Montana meatballs, my wife and kids had some of the pasta dishes. Food was great, they do a nice job of using local ingredients (especially huckleberries!). It's not cheap, but if you're staying near West Glacier and looking for a good meal, this is probably your best option.
