My wife had chicken steak I had baked chicken leg and thigh. Both dishes were great, well cooked and seasoned. We'll definitely go back again.

My colleagues and I order from here at least once a month. The food is delicious! My favs are the fried chicken, tostones and salad and the shrimp scampi with rice and beans. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it and think I'll order just that on this rainy Friday!

El Gran Castillo is an "authentic" Dominican restaurant in Brooklyn which serves very bland food. This was my first foray with Dominican food, but I doubt that's the way it's meant to be tasted. Salad was inedible, fish fillet swam in oil and I still don't know what was the potato side we received with it, but it tasted bad.

The bread was hot and nicely buttered. Ordered arroz con pollo and lechuga, tomato y aguacate. In other words chicken with rice, and lettuce, tomato and avocado. The salad was so fresh and plentiful. Definitely two could share. The rice and chicken had great spices. Two could also share. The prices are reasonable. Although we did not order sandwiches, they... More

Three of us went there on a Sunday for breakfast and had poached eggs toast, mofongo with chicken, and a Dominican breakfast. It was all good. The service was excellent. We enjoyed it much more than the fancy brunches common in "new" Brooklyn.

We were looking for a nice place for breakfast, not muffins, not bagels (I know, in Brooklyn and not eat a bagel?) and we happened to find this cute little place on Flatbush Ave. It was a very modern, clean restaurant with standard breakfast menu. We had the most adorable waitress, Carla. Both of us had a Spanish omelet, the... More

EL GRAN CASTILLO DE JAUA On Flatbush Avenue near Grand Army Plaza is a small restuarant that serves authentic Dominican food. The restaurant has 10 booths and 9 tables. Several ceiling fans and old light fixtures gives the impression of traditional cafe in the Carribean. It is very clean and have a large amount of wait staff so the service... More

Inexpensive, un-fussy Spanish and American food. This place caters to local immigrants rather than tourists, so what you are getting is the real cuisine rather than something that has been gussied up or watered down. Totally authentic. Don't order a cheeseburger -- reach for something from the Spanish side of the menu and use liberal doses of their salsas. The... More

We LOVE this place, for dining in or taking out to eat at home. NO it's not Le Bernadin, but huge dinners at under $10!!!

I've walked by here many times. I've eaten here twice for breakfast on Sundays with friends. I'll be honest, it's a dive, hole in the wall, but it's a good local place for breakfast since Parkside Diner closed. We usually bring the Sunday New York Times newspaper with us. I ordered French Toast ($4.25) with a side of fried yellow... More
