Cafe Steinhof has a warm, cozy setting with a bar, small tables and one beautiful big table in the corner window. The service is excellent and personable with good recommendations when choosing menu items. We ate rainbow trout, spaetzle, meatloaf, soup, salads and wurst. All of it was delicious and no doggie bags were needed. There's a good beer selection... More

Corner location great, service friendly. We sat at the bar first until our party came. While waiting had an Elderblossom Martini. Our party was seated promptly and we had for an appetizer nice fresh, crisp string bean and fig salad, and soup of the day as an appetizer. Dressing on salad was just perfect. For our dinner we ordered the... More

This is the ideal place to eat if you are hungry - no meager meal scam here - are you listening Manhattan? Full portions and a great price - quality food, enjoyable interior. This is the kind of restaurant and bar you hope opens in your neighborhood. I have had group dinners here, brought my parents, met a date here... More

Stopped in on a hot afternoon for a late lunch. The beer selection is great. I actually started with a gazpacho soup that was fantastic ..... in a German restaurant yet! I didn't think I could manage the bratwurst plate after that -- with 2 bratwurst and two sides. So I ordered a la carte which was perfect - one... More

Despite its array of Austrian posters and other memorabilia from Austria's 1950s, this café/ restaurant is about as authentically Austrian as Chipotle is authentically Mexican. If you have never been to Austria, you might buy the deception. It serves dishes and desserts that have Austrian names but are so far from the ' real things' in terms of taste and preparation... Went for lunch and had a quiet meal. Austrian goulash with a nice beer (ask for a recommendation) is a must. A real cold weather tonic. Nuff said

I've visited twice over the course of several years and it's been consistent both times. Good food and service and German beer. I've enjoyed the schnitzel both times and others in my party have commented that their food was delicious. The place is not huge, like most Park Slope restuarants, but in the twice I've been there we never waited.... More

It has been over a year since our last visit to Cafe Steinhof, The food continues to be well prepared and tasty. The menu is varied and tempting and we had a tough time deciding which among the offerings to order. This visit the restaurant was busy and the seating was a bit crowded for my taste. Service was the... More

I guess it's time for another 5 star comment for the Café Steinhof. We went there twice during our 6-week stay in Brooklyn. Both times we had the same waiter, he was very, very friendly, and fast, and both times we had brunch there. The food was always good, fresh, yummy. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is great.... More
