My wife and I just had another great lunch at Ethel's. We both had the Seafood Gumbo, which was delicious. I have also tried their Jambalaya on a previous visit, which was also amazingly good. Jeff (one of the owners) is very warm and welcoming. The chefs prepare wonderful food and all the other employees are great, too. We have... More

The food was amazing as was the service. The prices were great as were the portion sizes. They have inside and putside seating. Make it a must stop in your travels.

Wonderful meal! From the crab cakes to the divine oysters, to the ribs and the shrimp creole the meal was delightful. We had the crab dip to start and every taste from there was better than the last. We shared everything so we could savor every bite. The drinks were unusual and a perfect start to the evening. Try the... More

We visited Ethel's for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. It is a casual place in downtown Mount Washington. I specifically wanted something that was not the usual fare and this was perfect. First I have to complain about the bread. It was so warm and delicious that I ate way more than I should have and just destroyed... More

This is the most excellent of food. Well-crafted with love and creative. Try basically anything on the menu. However, jambalaya and gumbo are the specialties. Include the best of attentive service and you get a great date night.

Four of us enjoyed Jambalaya (sausage and shrimp), moms crab cakes, and soft shell crab. Wine was reasonable priced (Folanari Pinot Grigio) and the lemon dessert was delicious. We will be back

Fun place, awesome service, friendly staff and authentic food. I know, I love NOLA!! The portions are generous, the jambalaya is spicey and moist and the sausage is delicious. Huge shrimp!

Great, not just good, service over the top; atmosphere of a true NOLA cafe, at a reasonable price. How do you beat that? Pecan-Apple salad was uniquely flavorful and crisp. Shrimp Andouille sausage jambalaya...literally beyond my description, but let's try. Perfect spicy, more and larger shrimp than a scampi dinner, and sausage crisp yet moist. I know!! But my favorite,... More

Located in Mt. Washington, this is a go to venue for good southern cooking. The gumbo and jambalaya are first rate. Try the seafood or chicken with andouille. The ribs are also a winner.

Description
We serve an innovative mix of Cajun / Creole cuisine and local Maryland fare that utilizes both Chesapeake Bay and New Orleans flavors. From sweet corn to blue crabs, rockfish, shrimp, crawdads and more, the delights of these two regions abound and the heritage of preparing the local fare runs deep in the culture of both regions. Just as summer in Baltimore would not be complete without a crab cake or picnic of steamed crabs smothered in Old Bay, neither would any trip to New Orleans be complete without a sampling of Gumbo, Jambalaya, or a Po'Boy. We have dubbed our food Maryland Creole Cuisine. Items such as Crab and Shrimp Gumbo, Blackened Rockfish, and Pan Fried Oysters with Remoulade are just a few samplings of how wonderfully the flavors of Maryland and Louisiana blend.
