The Breakfast French Toast is amazing!!! I was really disappointed with the Surf and Turf dinner $23 steak was OK and shrimp was horrible. The salad bar hardly had any vegetables for salad and ranch dressing was empty. Dinner service and food was horrible!! We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and it was supposed to come with ranch. When... More

We ate here after we arrived at the park. The restaurant was not busy at all (two other tables were occupied). The waitress was friendly. There was a decent selection on the menu, and the prices were reasonable for being in a remote location. The tables and chairs were pretty neat looking, and the place had nice atmosphere, like a... Years ago we ate at Black Bear at Indian Lodge and had a good experience. Our last visit was a disaster. They were obviously running out of food which was poorly prepared and overcooked. But the "coup de gras" was a vegetable I could not identify which turned out to be steamed radish. It was Sunday pm and I guess... More

My family and I come here every year and we eat almost every meal at The Black Bear! We always have great food and great service. I love the CCC sandwich for lunch and the pancakes for breakfast.

Dinner was absolutely terrible! Chicken was served very charred and burned. The vegetable dish was old and tasted awful. Even the hamburgers were bad! They either had no seasoning or they were very over-salted. Waste of $!

For a restaurant that is closed part of the week, I didn't expect anything very fancy. But I was happy to drink the coffee in the morning and the breakfasts were filling and good. My husband loved his oatmeal and I enjoyed eggs and flavorful sausage. I wasn't as pleased with the Chicken Parmesan despite it being recommended by our... More

We stayed at Indian Lodge, and had dinner the the Black Bear. This was my first time, while my friends have been there multiple times before. They say it used to be good, and while we had great service for dinner, none of the food was that great. I had the chicken fried steak, and the batter was over-salted and... More

Because of its location - inside the Davis Mountains State Park - I expected it to be pricey. I was surprised at the reasonable prices, quality of the food, and very pleased with the great service. The menu is not extensive and currently they are open Wednesday through Sunday, but it is so convenient for those staying as campers and... More

Our biggest gripe is the staff doesn't give accurate info on hours (breakfast, so throws off day activity schedule). Even what's posted inaccurate. Twice we made the drive to find out closed. We did have supper but mixed reviews with our meals. Spouse's ribeye was just okay. Came med well but requested med rare. My chicken parm with pasta would... More

The Black Bear Restaurant is a laid back place at Indian Lodge. The view of the mountain out the window is beautiful. The food is typical cafe style food with hamburgers, Mexican food, and other food found in typical West Texas restaurants. The prices are reasonable. It's a good place to start or end the day.
