It is with good reason the Boardwalk Bistro was awarded the 2023 Trip Advisor Award of Excellence. The ambiance is created with rustic spaciousness and a blazing fire as an escape from the winter chill. Even though the waitstaff had large sections they were pleasant, efficient, and took the time to make you feel welcome and unrushed. The wine list was extensive and inclusive of both domestic and international offerings. I always look to see if Walla Walla wines are offered and they had a good selection from our region. In addition they had a full bar with specialty cocktails which included one of my favorite gins that is rarely found: Aviation. We ordered several starters that were served fresh with beautifully minimalist presentations. The Brie, salmon croccatini had perfectly cut Brie with generous portions of salmon and a sprinkling of a honey glaze. The steak tips were tender and served in a savory demi-glacé blue cheese mushroom sauce that warmed the evening’s cold air. The seafood cakes were crisply breaded with a moist filling that paired nicely with the flavorful specialty aioli. The braised pear salad was perfectly dressed with fresh arugula greens, diced walnuts, feta crumbles, and the mussel/clam chowder was graced with a little curry that gave a slight kick but added to the palate in which you wanted more. The price point is very reasonable for an upscale casual dining experience with excellent food and professional service. In-house baked focaccia bread is offered and served warm. It is light, airy, and balanced with the distinctive olive oil and herb blend that was not over-powering or dense as so many focaccias present. A very pleasant, relaxed, evening to be sure.

This restaurant was the crown jewel of our visit to Astoria, Oregon. To put it concisely, it's a gem and was stellar. The location is beautiful overlooking the water, the decor is lovely with a modern industrial interior and beams on the ceiling, and the service was attentive and outstanding. On top of this, the food was amazing. Almost everything we ate was simply delicious. We started with the only dish we didn't absolutely adore, and that was the Dungeness Crab cheesecake, which was good but had an unusual taste. I had the Shrimp Louis salad and my husband had the clams... both were great. I had the Orange Marionberry Lemon Drop which was yummy and innovative, and my husband had an old fashioned which he liked. But the real stars of the evening were the desserts... normally my husband and I like to split a dessert, but we couldn't choose which one to get. So we got the creme brulee (which was creamy and crunchy and so tasty) AND the carrot cake. If you like carrot cake but hate raisins, this is for you. I have never had such delicious carrot cake... they put a dollop of caramel on it, and it was AMAZING. Overall, I totally recommend this restaurant. Don't hesitate to go!

During our visit to Astoria, at the beginning of an epic Oregon Coast road trip with longtime friends from South Carolina, we had the good fortune of dining at this wonderful eating establishment. A five star restaurant in a beautifully renovated and repurposed historical building….a former salmon cannery. The building was salvaged, much of the materials were used in the renovation, and the results are stunning. Right on the Columbia River under the Astoria Megler bridge, it makes for great viewing and sunsets. The ambiance, service, and food are exceptional. Great wine list, and the owner, who is also a sommelier , just happened to be working that night and recommended a perfect wine pairing for our meal. We ate tuna and scallops that were perfectly cooked and plated. I would highly recommend this restaurant on your visit to Astoria!

An extremely disappointing experience. We chose this restaurant on the water because of the location and amazing views of the water and made reservations several weeks in advance. However, when we arrived for our reservation, we were shown to, literally, the only table in the whole entire restaurant that didn't have a view of anything. It was a table upstairs that faced two walls and overlooked the waitress station below. While they were kind enough to move us, it was a very uncomfortable and unnecessary situation that I didn't really appreciate. To make matters worse, we watched them seat people who came in with NO reservations right next to the window with an amazing view (they were local and know the hostess)! Dinner was way overpriced and their Halibut special was $50. Unacceptable for local fish. Every other restaurant that had Halibut was less than $35. They had lovely piano music playing as well and then I realized it was a player piano and not a person. It seemed really cheesy. If you can charge $50 for locally caught Halibut, surely you can afford to pay a real person to play a piano. Beautiful views if you are lucky to be seated in the downstairs dining and our waitress, Mia, was great.

Got the crispy salmon dish with a potato chorizo hash and was disappointed to get the tail end of the salmon with very little good meat. The flavor of the dish was fine, but for the price I expected a nicer filet. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the waitress and they made it right by taking half of the price and providing a complimentary dessert. I appreciate that they tried to make amends, it shows a quality establishment. The ambience is lovely.

I don't know if we just got them on an off night but service was farcically poor. Drinks not served, then served wrong, bread only provided after we asked twice, mains served whilst we were still eating appetisers. The waitress then said "don't worry I'll stick it under the lights", so the burgers were then served dry and the chips luke warm. Our waiter knew it wasn't good but it just deteriorated as the night progressed. Drinks were not delivered again and then the order was wrong. It just felt like the staff were fed up and weren't getting on with each other. Food was ok but not worth the prices charged.

Stopped in for lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. It really is an incredibly lovely room with a great waterfront view (if the fog or rain clears, lol). Service started off well, but the waiter seemed to kind of forget about us after we got our meals. I ordered the Hungarian Mushroom soup to start and 6 pan fried oysters. My wife chose the Cranberry Salad with chicken. Waiter brought out the fresh bread, soup, and mains all at one time, which irked me as I'd have liked to eat both my soup and my meal hot and fresh as they came out....Soup was quite tasty, like a goulash soup with no meat, just mushrooms and a healthy dollop of sour cream. The oysters were nice. Wife was disappointed in the salad, nothing really had much flavor, the dressing was bland, and there was a microscopic amount of feta in the salad. A $9 add on for chicken yielded about 2oz of chicken, at best. Not sure I'd rush back, but it sure was pretty.

One of the best restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. My husband and I live in the Seattle area and we make it a point to stop in Astoria just to eat at the Bridgewater. I have multiple food sensitivities and they are always accommodating. Excellent staff and you can’t beat the view.

Bridgewater Bistro. Nice place. Good food. Great service. Good views over the river. Got to watch ships going up and down the river. the chowder was great. The crab cheese cake was meh - it tasted like quiche. They had tents on the patio so people could eat outside in poor weather.

The new owners have been making small and subtitle changes that add up to an always great experience just getting better. From a beautiful and functional website improvement to regular series of various mellow music to accompany our dinner, it seem every few weeks we visit finds something new. This past Friday night saw a special on Flaming Bananas Foster - yum! I'm not a big desert fan, but this was truly great. One of the owners, Jeff, made ours table-side and it was perfect Jess our server was friendly, prompt, and full of importation as she always is. The consistency of the great food that we've seen over the past two years is just another one of the things that makes this a great resturant.

We were looking forward to a romantic dinner and were incredibly miserable with our choice - Bridgewater Bistro. It started with the hostess’s inflexibility and refusal to accommodate us when we called because we finished earlier than planned before our reservation. We chose to arrive 30 minutes early anyway and just order a cocktail. The hostess acted so exasperated and insisted they were busy. I counted tables and they were at 60% capacity and servers did not appear overworked. And only 2 other parties arrived for the duration of our dinner. We offered to sit at the bar while we waited. She said there wasn’t much of a bar but we found two tall tops. A whole 3 minutes later she collected us and sat us anyway but did not hide her irritation. Later I discovered she was the manager for the evening. Our server unhurriedly passed our table multiple times before stopping 10 minutes later to finally address us. Interestingly at this time they cut the bartender, which is a strange decision if you’re floor truly is busy. I ordered two appetizers mostly because there weren’t many seafood options that appealed to me. Stay away from the chili lime prawns! I was astonished and bewildered to be served any seafood drenched in a heavy dark brown gravy. It was foul. (Don’t forget this was a medieval trick when serving expired meat.) Prawns are light and delicate in flavor and don’t need much seasoning, certainly not gravy. I tried one and would not have any more. I gave feedback to the server, not expecting anything, but apparently he requested a discount from the manager. We watched the whole thing play out just feet away from our table. If that wasn’t enough, the hostess/manager (Julian) walked by our table and when passing scoffed loudly “Too much sauce!” How strangely unprofessional and spiteful. We had hoped for a lovely evening out but instead this manager spread so much negativity and ruined our evening and I got a sour stomach to boot. Needless to say, I can’t recommend this place.

We celebrated my birthday at the Bistro by sharing a a crab cheesecake that reminded me of a similar dish from New Orleans. Our waitress Annie said the recipe was from New Orleans. (It's like a quiche and delicious!) We both chose bouillabaisse for the main course--also very good. The restaurant is housed in a spacious restored building on the waterfront with plenty of free parking.

This was a wonderful lunch stop for us. There was a large beautiful outdoor patio with multiple protected (from wind and cold) encased tables with good views of the water and bridge. And the patio is dog friendly. We fully enjoyed our meals with my wife having the Tuna BLT and fish and chips for me. Both meals were very tasty and properly prepared. There was nothing but crumbs left on the plate. The service was also excellent. It is not often these days that you get a wait person to actually check on you (multiple times) during your meal to see if all was ok and if you needed anything. A very pleasant meal and we will be back as we are here for a week. BObK

We've been going to this restaurant for the last 6 years or so and have always loved the friendly service and great food. With overseas guests in tow we showed up on a Sunday evening for a drink and snacks. The woman, who I assume was the hostess, did not say hello, looked at me like I was an alien, and when she found out we didn't have reservations I was told no in a condescending tone! Very curt and rude, I have never turned around and walked away from a person but I did this time. It's understandable that they could not accommodate even drinks and appetizers but there is a kind way of saying that and with courtesy. Very sad to see the wonderful staff replaced by these types. :( Make a reservation as they do not accept walk-ins or accommodate bar visits.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of this unfortunate experience at our front desk, which is unusual. I will definitely share them with our hosts as a reminder to give every customer a courteous reception as well as a fuller explanation of why, due to limited kitchen staff, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins on busy nights. I hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you better.
