We split a fish and chips with an extra piece of fish and it was plenty for the two of us with very good fish and good fries.
Great beer, and they even offered a root beer float, which my wife seldom passes up.
Fast, friendly service.
There was a line at the dining side where the view of the river is, so we opted to eat in the taproom, which was funky and pleasant.

The location is perfect. It is easy to access and when the trolley is going you can hop on after you eat. There is usually a small wait. But no worries there are great views and sea lions close by. They will text you when your table is ready.
Inside there is a small glass floor area that kids love. Benches to sit and wait. The main dining area has a great view.
The staff is always super friendly regardless if they are busy or not.
They have a flight of beer that is like a buoy- be prepared to drink a lot. Beers are good, wine is great, and food is delicious. It was so good we went back more than once. I recommend the Tuna sandwich- you will not regret it. Clam chowder is good. Appetizers are great. Salads are prefect. Really I have not had anything I didn’t like there. The coleslaw needed a little salt for me, it was very bland. That would be my only critique.

So so good with COVID precautions and awesome service from staff. We had to wait longer times than expected but it was worth it at the price of being more hygienic. Prices for food and drinks were very reasonable and everything was super delicious!

We have eaten at Buoy many times in the past two years and we have never been disappointed with the food, the beer, or the service. Our favorite is their fish and chips which is served with their homemade tartar sauce, malt vinegar, and Portland ketchup We have tried other menu items from pasta, sandwiches, and the steamed clams. All are excellent and are prepared to order with fresh ingredients. Buoy beer was one of our favorite discoveries here in the Pacific Northwest and the beer eventually led us to the brewery and restaurant. We have rated many of their beers on Beer Advocate. We wish more were available in bottles or cans. However, we can always get a Crowler or Growler to go. Our favorite server is Heather. We have been lucky to get her as our server many of the times we have eaten there. She always recognizes us when we come in on our visits to Astoria. The sea lions are always a delight when they are hanging around the piers. They can be rather noisy outside, but the ones we view under the glass window in the restaurant floor are usually snoozing. It's very enjoyable sitting at our table watching the big ships come in and out of the Columbia River--always a great view day or night We can't imagine a visit to Astoria without a visit to Buoy Beer Company!

After hiking all over Fort Stevens State Park, we stopped at this watering hole on the way to our hotel. Good social distance practice, excellent service at the bar. Bus table employees wiped down each area before a new customer was seated, and I appreciated the outdoor, socially distant arrangement. Beer and spicy nuts were great too while watching the seals in the water.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday -at 1:30, and it was a constant 30 minute wait-a good sign! The wait was only about 20 minutes for a table for 2. We watched sea lions under the restaurant (built on a pier) through the glass floor, which was entertaining. Hubby had the tuna sandwich with fries and was VERY happy with his choice. I had a burger. It was ok. Fries with Portland ketchup or homemade ranch dressing were delish. Service was friendly and fast. We had a 6-beer taster tray, and we liked 5 out of the 6! The one we didn’t care for was the Astoria IPA, it was kind of boring. The “IPA” was citrusy, which my husband likes. Strong Gale was his favorite.
I don’t love beer, I prefer cider, so I ordered the Cream Ale and a drink that tasted like a Sour Patch kid without the sugar, slightly fizzy (i forget what it’s called, #6 on the list in the photo.)

We went here based on the reviews and we are glad we did. We both got the fish and chips and they were very good. The fish was crispy and perfectly cooked, fires were good. They are working hard to comply with Covid 19 rules and it shows. Good job! the beer I ordered was OK, not bad, not great, but worked just fine with the fish, We would go again.

The food is good and fresh, the beer is good and fresh. Then you have your beer and the food comes, and the boats pass, and the wind is in your hair, and the buoy keeps bopping. What else do you need?
A must stop in Astoria, as much for the view as he beer and food.

COVID has really changed this place. Our group of 7 came in for lunch 11:30 and ordered at the counter as now is the current custom. We each paid for our own lunch so didn't get think to get one number for the whole group. As it was the person who ordered last got her meal 20 min before the next person. Then another person at our table got their lunch. 45 min later 2 more lunches showed up. As most of the rest of the group finished their last bite the last two lunches showed up. The menu is limited so I am wondering if they only have one person working in the kitchen and 3 people taking the food around to the tables. People grab their own seats and the order numbers are random. Service staff are wandering around the restaurant, the pub area and outdoors hoping to find the number for the order they are carrying around. Seems like a lot of wasted time and frustrated staff and customers. Get some pagers and let people pick up their own food and put those wandering staff to work in the kitchen. Hope after the kitchen remodel is completed the excellent customer service will return.

We did a 4 night coastal Oregon trip staying in Astoria for 2 nights and Newport and Florence each for one night. We arrived in Astoria at 11:30 am on a Saturday, too early for our hotel check-in so we headed toward the water and saw a line at Buoy Beer and decided to get in it! There were actually two lines, one for indoor dining and one for their taproom to order beer and food to eat outside. We lucked out and got the last table inside (we were there June 19, 2021, and Oregon was still under Covid restrictions and limited indoor seating). We had the fish (rockfish) and chips and my husband claims it is the best fish he has ever had! We went back the next day which happened to be Father's Day at 3p and they were completely overwhelmed and running out of food with an hour wait for what they had. They had to do the fish and chips with tuna and it was not nearly as good. It's still a fun place and surely things will get better once Covid restrictions are relaxed.

The view is wonderful....waterfront...fun to watch the shipping activities. Their beer choices are extensive. My husband has loved their Cream Ale for years. I found their limited production Baltic Porter to be one of best I’ve had in a while! Their staff were friendly & helpful. The chowder has amazing flavor. The deep-fried cheese curds are tasty and has large portions.

Spontaneity bit my hubby and I in the butt today when we decided to not adult and run to the coast for pre birthday dinner. Yeah , silly us Saturday Cannon Beach, no reservations. Oh well, then we remembered Bouy! We have been meaning to go and then the roof collapse …. You get the picture. We stopped by on our way home and not only did they have a FREAKING JALAPEÑO/ pineapple MARGARITA , they had steamed clams. Hubby loved his burger special and can I just mention the dill dipping sauce for the fries??? So good! Thank you all so much for a great meal in a great space. You saved our long fruitless drive and my pre birthday celebration. If you haven’t been, go you won’t be disappointed , get a beer sampler , eat the fries ask for extra dill sauce then order dinner. Be prepared to be wowed. Pub food kicked up all the notches!

Decent place, we had lunch here while visiting Astoria and checking out the Goonies Jail and house. Our twin 8 year old boys had the hamburger and PB&J which both come with chips, my wife had the Fish-Wich and I had the Salmon BLT with the Bouy IPA ( which was pretty good), we had curly fries with our sandwiches which was an extra $2 per order, it's not typical restaurant, you go to the counter to order and then a server/expediter brings out your food, refills you have to go up to the counter and they do not have fountain soft drinks it's all in cans or bottles except the iced tea. They have lots of menu options and clean bathrooms, service was good.

Ate fish/chips all summer everywhere in Alaska and down WA/OR coast upon return. Thought portion sizes shrank the further south we got and prices increased. Don't mind paying $20 for great fish/chips when you get ample fish but this didn't do it, unfortunately.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant after arriving late from a long day trip. It’s fabulous ! It’s a brewery that serves great food and has an atmosphere to match. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We even saw a seal through the glass floor which added to our night. The only downside was the cost of a small glass of house rose -$9 - seemed excessive. But overall it was excellent and recommended.
