If you love Blackened Redfish, you have to go! Go's nicely with Black Beans and rice too, I might add. Our own little slice of New Orleans with a much better view!

I visited this place while on my drive back from Little Talbot state park. I enjoyed the ambience as it seemed to be a lively place where both locals and tourists visit. The open air bar on the water was a pleasant lunch experience. I ordered the fried shrimp with fries and it was OK. Nothing spectacular. My server was... More

We just crossed the river on the ferry and decided to grab some lunch. After reading the reviews we decided on this place and I'm glad we did. I ordered shrimp and clams, served with hush puppies and onion rings, they were delicious. My wife got the fish and also delicious. We enjoyed a cold beer and a glass of... More

The Sandollar Restaurant and Marina saved the day! I usually stop in at Safe Harbor Restaurant and Fish Market for lunch while picking up my monthly supply of fish, but the line was too long. Sandollar was on the way home after departing from The St John's Ferry, so I decided to drop in since I hadn't been in a... More

This restaurant has great food selections. The seafood gumbo was some of the best I have had. It is a waterfront eatery and makes for a nice relaxing afternoon. Most of the meals are seafood based and fresh.

We visited on "all you can eat snow crab legs" night which is what my husband had. I had the low country boil. The crab legs were sweet and the waitress watched to make sure she asked my husband if he wanted more as he started the last cluster on his plate. The boil was full of seafood as well... More

My wife and I had the seafood platter for 2 grilled. It was excellent and enough for 3-4 people. We sat outside and had a nice view of the river and watched the ferry go back and forth.

We came back here to enjoy the food and the superb location, right on the water with active bird life, Air activity, and vessels. We started with the Gator Tails, don't miss it. The fish tacos were really perfect. Fish Gumbo is great.

What better way to enjoy a seafood dinner than sitting outside over looking the St. Johns River watching ships of all sizes go bye. Our server was very accomodating kept my ice tea glass full. Made sure we had all the condiments. The oysters on the half shell were huge and tasty and so were the conch fritters. The crab... More

Description
The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and in 1988, a new building was constructed by Dwayne Williams, who owned La Cruise Casino and Restaurant in Mayport. He kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood at a low price.

Today, under that same direction from the original owner, we look forward to bringing back the same great seafood that The Sandollar brought in when it opened. We are proud to be serving our local community for over 15 years now and will continue to give back and assure our locals that the next decade will provide the same great service, incredible food, and innovation that we are known for.
