I come here frequently, this place is great. Huge burritos and salads, or you can get items like enchiladas, tacos, and tamales a la carte for smaller portions. Prickly pear Margarita is excellent, and staff is friendly. Churro balls are a great dessert choice and the chicken tortilla soup is fabulous.

My posole was fabulous and so hearty! A meal in itself! Topped up with salsa and chips. The wait service was wonderful and brought us lots of salsa and chips when we requested it. Service was fast and very welcoming. I went there with a group first for dinner and returned for lunch on my own. Both times....excellent food and... More

Visited on a Sun night for dinner. Wasn't hoping for much in terms of any authenticity, but food was uninspiring and average. Very little ambiance - esp for a Mexican joint. Place looked a bit ragged and unloved, in spite of being located in a very upscale area. Service just ok. Not recommended.

A group of us ate here after visiting the Western History exhibit at the Blackhawk museum. The situation is nice next to the lagoon, but the food was unexciting. I wanted a small, light meal so I ordered the quesadilla appetizer but it was enormous and quite bland.

We sat outside where the ducks swam and it was beautiful. Chips and salsa to start was yummy! Authentic Mexican cuisine was a delight.

First time at Prickly Pear Cantina, 3 for dinner on a summer night before a movie at the Black Hawk theater. Made reservations ahead of time to avoid long waiting time on a busy Saturday evening. We requested the patio area and was seated their within 5 min. of arrival. We were greeted by our server and chips and salsa... More

I recently went to the Prickly Pear Cantina, and found the food to be a bit disappointing. The quality was not as good as expected, and the entrees were served luke warm, not hot. The chicken seemed to be undercooked, and in fact I had a major stomach ache later in the evening. The mole sauce seemed to be re-heated... More

Three adults, an infant and a toddler we're referred here by friends. We arrived about 11 AM on a Sunday so were seated right away. We sat outdoors in the shade with a lovely view of the lake, water falls and ducks. The kids were entertained by the ducks which gave the adults time to enjoy an exceptional lunch. Two... More

Located in Blackhawk Plaza, it's a nice casual option, with excellent food. One of the Rodney Worth group, it always has excellent and creative menu options. A great option for movie night, within walking distance of the BH movie theater.
