They always had good service and good food. It was hard to beat their location too - near the Avenue of Arts, Broad and Locust. We were disappointed that this time they were CLOSED AND EMPTY. We were told that the building is being renovated and instead there will be condominiums. Only hoping that this good Italian Restaurant will be... More

The menu is a little restricted and fish bias. Do not despair. The pasta is great, two of us had the rigatoni with meat sauce. The organic chicken light and tasty. The beef cheeks and risotto amazing and worth having. We had flat breads as appetizers, they also were very light not heavy so worked and cooked to perfection. Service... More

Had dinner along with three colleagues. Food was excellent as was the service, not too intrusive but not ignored (even initially when it was very busy with pre-theatre diners). Excellent value for money.

We made a last minute reservation here after we were at the theater. my wife had been there 10 years earlier when she was at school in Jefferson. the waiters wait staff and everybody there could not have been more pleasant. they were very friendly and the food was spectacular. they make all their own pasta on site so everything... I went to dinner with other guys attending the same conference in which I am participating here in Philadelphia. Varalli was selected by one of the others partly due to its convenient location (we are at the Marriott Downtown Hotel) and partly because "Italian" would work for all three of us. Unfortunately the waiter began by announcing the several dishes... More

We have travelled all over the world. Our native St Louis has many fine Italian restaurants. But this was the very best veal piccata that we have ever enjoyed anywhere...tender, nicely pounded by hand, perfectly cooked with just the right amount of capers in a fantastic aglow olio sauce that perfectly complimented the linguini that we chose Togo with it... Located right in the heart of the theater district in downtown Philadelphia this is a fine place to go before catching one of the many shows within a block or two of this place. The staff was friendly but efficient and the food was terrific. Nice atmosphere there was a buzz but it was quiet enough to have a decent... More

Great restaurant friendly staff every one is treated like family. If you love seafood the bronzino is a must to have my husband favourite. Their shrimp fried Diablo is mine. Their menu is not very lame but enticing. We love going there always feel welcome

I dined on a week-end night with friends and we all enjoyed delicious meals with excellent service. My choice of veal picatta was fork tender and perfect. The restaurant is located close to many performing art venues and would be a good choice for dining before a show or concert.

Offering very good Italian food just south of City Hall on Broad Street, Varalli gives you the feeling that you are part of a family meal. Their appetizers and salads lay the foundation for a very good meal, especially the veal dishes. Excellent home-made pasta that accompanies almost every entrée. The fixed price alternative is a good way to sample... More
