I had a pretty terrible experience here. No al pastor, no tortas... ended up with a chicken burrito that was seriously aweful. While it was huge, it was lacking the cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo it supposedly had. Also, I am pretty sure...the chicken was cooked in the microwave or something. Also ordered coffee which was a mistake, hard to drink it tasted so bad. Final cherry on top... my shoes were sticky walking out of the restaurant after waiting more than 10 minutes for them to take my card and cash me out. Wish I could say service was good, but my server also had a serious attitude. I do not recommend this place. Go to El Jaracho instead..More

Authentically Mexican flavors, very reasonable prices, very generous portions, heavy Mexican clientele (which is a very good sign).

I liked the burrito I got, although it was just average. The place is nice to eat in, is clean. The service was dissaointing since the waitress did not tell us the specials. It took quite a while to get our food. I honestly think...that in this area there are bettr mexican places.More

This small restaurant in the Italian Market feels like you've stepped into a place in some little town in Mexico. Food is tasty with big portions and the service was friendly.

If you go there, try the fish tacos. Breaded tilapia, rice, lettuce and a tiny amount of dressing. Delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and there is plenty of room between tables. Not noisy, but comfortable. The carne Assad is also excellent. Wasn't too...crazy about the salsa Verde....a ...little too watery. But overall a very nice restaurant.More

Great authentic mexican food on Washington Street. It's not fancy by any means, but it's inexpensive, large portions and tastes great. Great tacos and horchata, and friendly staff.

Excellent and authentic Mexican food in South Philly, with traditional offerings not found in other places in the city. Some of the best "al pastore" tacos and horchata around, all with great service and very reasonable prices. The only difficulty, like many spots in South...Philly, is parking.More

I wasn't really enjoying it, might have been sick of something. I love pepperoni but this was far too greasy and not sitting well in my stomach. I picked off the pepperoni but still not going down :(

My friends and I went in search of a Mexican restaurant near ninth Street last weekend. What can I say we were a few years late to the Mexican Renaissance. Someone from the neighborhood pointed us to Plaza Garibaldi and we weren't disappointed. More than...30 years ago I ventured into the same spot when it was Saigon, one of the first Vietnamese restaurants in Philly. It was déjà vu all over again. The decor that hardly changed. Instead of the Young's daughter and son waiting on us there is a young teenage boy. The food was satisfying, including the natchez, which I was scornful about my my dinner companions first ordered it. But it is nothing like what I expected; the tortilla chips were delicately layered with chicken beef and the light tMexican cheese. The ends lads mixto was similarly pleasing; simple as a salad is to make you're hard to get a good one when you go out to a restaurant. All of my dinner companions were too satisfied with their own dishes to want to share or sample. I had the chicken enchilada in chipotle sauce that I enjoyed for days thanks to the generous portion. My only complaint is that they cleaned throughout the evening with heavy cleaners. I could've done without that. But otherwise a refreshing remake to a place that holds a lot of nostalgia for me.More

This is a really enjoyable place for dinner, that is also inexpensive and relaxed. The food is great... good mole sauce, some complex dishes, as well as reliable standards. Enormous portions for relatively low prices ($10-$14). Plus, the beer is plentiful and cheap! Not elegant,...but a comfortable dining room. Give it a try!More
