Got invited to this restaurant by a friend, and to be honest I had not heard of the restaurant before as it hadn't shown up on any "Top" lists... which turned out to be my loss as Ela was an ABSOLUTE GEM. As soon as I walked in the door, the decor was fantastic, rustic and spacious. Great ambiance that... More

Just had a fabulous dinner at Ela this past weekend. Didn't try the a la carte menu, but i had the 6 course tasting menu. It was one of the best meals Ive ever had. For the 6 course, the chef creates a unique off-menu meal for you. Extremely high quality ingredients, flavors well-balanced. Each course different and delightful. And... More

A quaint location just removed from the hustle and bustle of South Street, we were excited to visit and see Jason Cichonski's vision. A great staff makes the atmosphere pleasant from entering until the end of the meal. The food is fresh and inventive. As with so many of the great new restaurants in Philly, and as it should be,... We ate here on New Years Eve and had a fantastic time. We had spent hours choosing the restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The 4 course tasting menu with wine matching was delicious in every bite. It was excellent value for money and had a special atmosphere all night. I would love to return on a "normal" night and I... Let me start by saying that the 4 course menu for $49 is great value for your money. On top of that, it let's you chose what you want from the a la carte menu rather than settle for a fixed menu you may not like. All four of my dishes were delicious, which is no easy feat. Most often... More

We had a party of 12 family members in town for a funeral and needed a comfortable place for dinner that had a great menu and was not noisy. One of the local cousins arranged to have us eat at Ela. Having just driven in 200+ miles, I was hungry and exhausted and wanted a good meal. The restaurant offered... More

Had a good selection of small bites and a few entrees. The 4-course tasting (choose one from each of the 3 "bites" courses plus dessert) is worth it. Pretty filling meal, but the portions aren't huge, so it's manageable. The acorn squash tart was amazing. And my mouth is still watering over the cookie dough dessert!

Six of us for dinner and we all opted for the "3 bites + dessert" menu with a choice of an appetizer, mid course and main dish + dessert. Waitress explained dishes we queried. Setting is simple, service was very good and all the dishes were scrumptious and unique. The haddock dish was a bit too salty and the waitress... More

We reserved for 7 pm and was seated right away, by 8 the restaurant was full. We chose the 4 bite menu. The first two plates are appetizer portion. The gnocchi was delicious and the scallop noodles and the broth was a tasty experience. The Lancaster chicken was cooked perfectly. The duck was just okay. The original drinks from the... More

I went with a dear friend for a girl's night out. Food was great - tasty, fresh and very deliciously - We ordered the oysters, octopus - beautifully cooked - tender and very well seasoned, scallop noodles - lovely scallop and great texture - gnocchi - again beautifully done and beet root dish. We also had 2 cocktails each. The... More
