Read this was better than Abyssinian down the street. Not in our opinion! Better value since the food portions are huge. Not as flavorful and the injera tasted old. Service was friendly.

Quite decent, tasty food, but I prefer similar dishes as prepared at Abyssinia. My dinner companions ordered the "veggie combo" and though they enjoyed it thought it could be spicier. I had the "Tour of Ethiopia" and although all the dishes were quite good, was underwhelmed by the quantity. Injera was fine; for some reason seemed to be a somewhat... More

The food her is fantastic! We love Ethiopian food and when the craving hits- this is where we go! The place could use an update for the visual eye. They also could definitely chart more- it is quite a barain!! I've noticed some people complain the service is slow... but it's not an American fast food restaurant... so I really... More

We went to Ethio Café and Restaurant the other night. We chose this restaurant over its neighboring Ethiopian restaurant because it is a BYOB, which we consider a plus. We were waited on right away and ordered: Beef Tibs and Kitfo (rare) Sides Gomen Wot Tikil Gomen Wot Alisha Kik Wot Misir Wot The food did take a little extra... More

My girlfriends brother was a regular at this place. From the street the place does not look like much with very little seating. We actually ate outside on the patio. The menu is different from what I am used too (I have never eaten Ethiopian food before) but it was very delicious and the portions were very large. The staff... More

This rarely visited restaurant is the best Ethiopian food and possibly food overall in Philadelphia. The food is very reasonably priced and meals are nicely sized. The flavors are very nice too. Even those with no experience with Ethiopian food would like this food. The restaurant is not decorated very well but the traditional table are nice. It is clean... More

Great food and really nice owners. We were the only ones in the restaurant and he kept offering us more food to try. Great experience.

I love great Ethiopian food. And fortunately, that's what Ethio Cafe serves up every visit. This humble little spot in West Philly is almost always open. I go for the veggie platter -mounds of lentils, collard greens, chickpeas, cabbage, and green salad all waiting to be scooped up with spongy injera bread. They offer plenty of meat options also. Their... More

If you don't like spicy food but want to try Ethiopian, this is a good place for you, but I found the food to be bland. I love Ethiopian food and have been to great restaurants in other cities. We went at an odd time, so we were the only people in the restaurant, but the server wasn't very attentive.... More

We lived in Ethiopia for 3+ years, so we know good Ethiopian food and were thrilled to find it here. We liked the injera and found all the wots to be quite good. We had several in our group who had never had Ethiopian before and were worried about the food being too spicy. We ordered the yellow splint pea... More
