This was my first time to Fridas. What a gem. The place is warm and inviting. We were greeted with smiling faces from the staff. The atmosphere is great. Drinks are amazing. Beautiful decor with tiles, the food is authentic with lots of flavor. The Al pastor was fabulous, a taco with pork and pineapples. Also, the complimentary nacho chips and salsa verde and another spicy dip was delicious. I had 3 tacos for $10. Can’t wait...to eat there again.More
A popular bar/restaurant with very interesting decor, including tile work and carved wood. The straight back wooden chairs aren't the greatest for comfort, but for a dinner duration it's no problem. Mexican cheese has a chewy texture when cooked, so keep that in mind. My...regular favorite is the Chili Rellenos, a portion large enough for two to share. They come with beans and rice. Tortillas are free, but now you have to ask. I suspect that's because the portion was so large that most people couldn't finish the tortillas. Another good dish is the guacamole and chips. The guac is chunky style. These chips are a little thicker than the nachos served free before the meal. Overall, a fun place to eat and relax.More
A great find in the heart of South Philly. Small and intimate but with great food. Service and portions were great. Drinks were strong. Make sure your start out with the Ceviche and the Queso Fundido. The Pescado Frito was cooked to perfection. Great decor...and an amazing selection of some hard to find tequilas.More
Frida Cantina popped onto the South Philly restaurant scene in last year with a sleeper exterior hiding a truly amazing interior with loads of interesting details from vintage artwork by famed artist Frida to custom tile work on the bar as well as the bathroom...sink. The menu is authentic Mexican fare with plenty of craft brews on tap. There is surprisingly plenty of seating inside the corner location with tables and custom bar stools at the beautiful counter. Our service was personalized and prompt. This venue is worth checking out for atmosphere and flavor!!More
