Extremely unprofessional rude and dismissive staff at this restaurant. They have posted on their website that they are open until 10pm and was told at the door at 8:40pm that they closed the kitchen at 8:30pm but our party of four could sit at the...bar and have drinks “if we felt like it". I kindly mentioned that the website states they are open until 10pm and the hostess says "well, I guess it hasn't been updated". In the most dismissive and condescending way. And she walked away. So rude. I will never return here, or recommend this place. Sad. You’re better off going next door to Lure amazing service and delicious food!!!More

Delicious homemade pasta, amazing service and comfortable atmosphere. We had speghetti and meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo and caprese salad with a nice large pour of wine. Great food served with a warm smile, highly recommended!

Here's what I ordered: Calamari E Zucchine Fritti Tempura calamari, broccoli, zucchini, & fennel. Mamma Tina's marinara The heavy batter was TOO crispy and hard. The calamari were like leather. WAY overcooked. I make calamari fritti at home all the time, the Italian way, and mine...have a light dusting of flour only, which gives a light crunchy texture, and I cook them less than a minute at the right temperature to give a moist tender interior and a nicely browned crunchy exterior. They must be served immediately so they don't cool or become leathery. It's very simple really if you know what you're doing. And tempura should always have a light crispy exterior and a moist tender interior. So this dish fails as tempura as well. The marinara was perfect thanks to Mamma Tina's authentic recipe. It was dark and rich, the way marinara is supposed to be. You rarely find it this way at American restaurants. Carciofi Fritti Marinated and fried artichokes served with a lemon capers aioli dipping sauce These were a complete fail. They were those small artichokes simply deep fried with no batter. The outer leaves were spread out in a messy pattern. Really unappetizing. The inner leaves were oily and tough. What else can I say? This is what I think of this place: HUGE NEGATIVE The restaurant employees were not wearing masks despite the recent spike in the Delta variant of COVID. I asked the waiter why he wasn't wearing a mask. He said, ignorantly, "Because it is not required. I have been vaccinated." I was shocked. We were all elderly people who were in the highest risk category and, though we were all vaccinated, we were still at risk, and though he MAY have been vaccinated––he didn't offer any proof––he was still a potential superspreader. And everyone from the chef to the server, who didn't even wear gloves, were probably contaminating the food they touched and breathed over. Disgusting. I would not go back there.More

Family went here for an after graduation dinner. All our food was very good. The meals with the sauces were not to heavy or rich. The sauces didn’t drown the pasta and they were nice size portions. The pizzas were awesome and I would definitely...come back here for some pizza and beer!! The price points for the meals were a little on the high side but not too bad, I’ve seen worse. It’s always here for me to pay a high price for pastas, even if there are made from scratch. Over all, it was a nice evening and a great time was had by all.More

Mother’s Day dinner may not be the best time to judge a restaurant, but that’s when we came and we were slightly disappointed. The service was adequate not great, but not terrible. We had to ask a number of times for water, fresh pepper for...our salads and parmigiana cheese for our pasta. My wife’s lasagna was good not great and not very hot. Had the fettuccine filetto —the fillet was very good but the pasta was dry and too chewy. Neither my wife and I would order what we had again. The restaurant itself is adorable and everyone was friendly—perhaps it was not the right night to come. The waiter saved the evening by not charging us a corkage fee—he knew we weren’t pleased with dinner. We will give it one more chance sometime in the future. Don’t expect the kind of a meal other reviews may lead to to believe you’ll get and then you won’t be too disappointed.More

So booked a valentine's dinner (2021). They were super busy and there was no hostess/host attending to guests who were asking for a table. The hostess was actually super busy arranging tables for guest who were waiting outside. But I'd think the way booking in...advance works is that if you have RSVP'd you should get your table ahead of anyone who walked in and put in their name at the spot! But that wasn't the case! Ok, so after waiting for 30 mins (about the same time as the folks who just walked in), we got a table in-doors. I thought Ventura county had allowed restaurants to operate at 20% in-door capacity for in-door dining. That wasn't the case as it was pretty much packed inside. So we were finally seated, the table was not clean and was sticky! The chairs were squeaking and almost felt I'll break it if I try to stretch a little! A few menu items we chose were not available. Our server seemed too uninterested to serve us like one would expect. He seemed hurried to get our table done as soon as he could! Food was average in quality and taste. Kind of hard to agree with a lot of 4/5 star comments where. Yelp reviews seem more accurate.More

Oh my goodness - what a wonderful dinner! We arrived at 9:15 on a Tuesday night, but they still took us. We sat in a pretty patio with great social distancing. My wife ordered the Insalata di Pera E Gorgonzola, which was divine. Her main...was the Tortellacci di Zuca, which was the best butternut squash pasta she has had in a long time. I ordered their special, a Branzino, brilliantly done over a bed of rice and vegetables. The Branzino itself was delightful - soft, tender, buttery, not flaky, and very tasty. My wife liked her white sangria, and I recommend their Manhattans. Thank you Koto (bartender) and Derrick (server) - you were both amazing!More

After many meals at the Cafe, I can reflect that the food and service is consistently very good. The prices are fair, the portions large, the quality good and the selection very broad. It's a comfortable place to be in and savor the excellent choices....I've never had a bad meal there. It's a great place to go and worth a drive even if you don't live in Ventura.More

This place is to die for! Wowzer. The staff always seems to know your name even when you dont think you have even met them before. This place is a nice little nook built right into a chill little neighborhood. The owner takes pride in...every dish served and works very hard to maintain a 5 star status. Its better than Largo with Aimee Man, Amy Shumer, Peter Dinklage, Scott Bakula and the list goes on. Nonenof them can beat this slice of heaven. Hitem with the heinz ketchup!More

Yes, there is an outdoor area for eating. It has a clear glass portion on top of a wall to help block the wind off of the water. There are also heaters and a fire pit for those colder evenings. One thing to keep in mind is... More
