Picture this. A hostess telling your party five times over that the wait is 20 minutes, a waiter that slams your drinks on the table, neglects to bring you an ice bucket, and is so eager to empty the bottle that he pours your glasses...More

If you've just feasted around the corner at Yakitori Taisho or Kenka and are seeking a chill place to sip sake with a few friends, look for the little sign leading down to a basement door. Inside is a tiny space rich with gritty ambiance...More

A restaurant always full of people, but absolutely no comfortable. Waiting line is about 30mins, and then you are forced in a narrow space, without space to eat: we were five in a table of two, and I am literally attacked to my table neighbors...More

Visited this bar after returning from a trip to Japan hoping to find a bar similar to the amazing bars we visited during our trip around Japan. Ordered some sake and food. Sake was nice, but food felt like it had been heated up in...More

Only a small sign leads to a downstairs entrance. You walk into a dark and crowded Japanese sake bar. Yes, it's all about sake here and it is very dark. There's also a good list of small apps to go along with the sake. Definitely...More

Walking down E 9th street and see some iron stairs leading into a basement with an red lit up 'On Air' sign which piqued our curiosity. After our initial confusion about how to order drinks, which may or may not have been due to previous...More

If you love sake and don't mind loud bars then go here. This sake bar has a HUGE sake menu, featuring lots of rare types of sake and Japanese tapas.

Good sake, an unbelievable amount of choice. We had a sparkling fruity one that was very drinkable. Setting was cool if a little intense, dimly lit with odd music playing - felt a bit like a opium den. Definitely an experience, worth a visit.

There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to
