This place is amazing - amazing prices, amazing location. It is a Japanese bakery and they also have an assortment of hot foods. Mostly small things, each priced around $3. They also have some boxed lunches and sushi rolls available. Some favorites are steamed pork buns, mango pan, and the hello kitty sweet bean cake. Everything here is good, including... More

Walking around Fifth and down the various streets. We saw window ad for the softie ice cream in black sesame or green tea. Only option was black sesame. On the cone or cup were only options. $4.25 was pricey but the serving was generous enough and we were in NYC. Sesame was tasty, smooth and enjoyed. No disappointment. Sweet taste.

Don't get me wrong, we love kinokuya bookstore unfortunately, it's cafe partner has insufficient seats for true customer. We spend $40 worth of pastries, the manager is so incompetent. He couldn't nor try to resolve this issue. It just a lounge for people to do social media( they are not even buying from the cafe) will never come back to... More

My friend and came for the soft serve ice cream. The black sesame flavor was delicious, but we've taste more fragrant green tea at other places. We picked up some Onogiri, seaweed wrapped Japanese rice balls and they were tasty. A friend who works in the area highly recommends the chicken sandwich.

I had the sesame green tea ice cream and dh indulged his weakness for a cream puff... Both excellent, will be back to try different treats.

Some of the hot foods are hit or miss, but the bakery, soft serve ice cream, and drinks are pretty decent.

Clean store, cute seating area, and piping hot dumpling, which is fantastic but the rave review ends there. The dough is tasteless and the center is sparsely filed and mediocre in taste. Guess I'll have to continue to trek to Sun Sai Gai in Chinatown and hope they're not sold out.

This cafe is too noisy and should consider changing the pumped in music to Off or something soothing.

The food was very good, the table where we ate was dirty (but we are experiencing that this is a bad habit of most places in New York...). We ate 2 bento boxes (one fish based and one meat based) and 2 dorayaki 1 vanilla roll cake and 1 coffee. We spent almost 30 $.

Unfortunately we had already eaten lunch. Stopped in for the black sesame/green tea ice cream - to die for. Tastes just as good as in Tokyo. Some fascinating desserts went by our table, and we will definitely be back to sample those.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
