Sadly my only experience with Swedish food was Ikea, so wasn't sure what to expect but Smorgas was very good. The meatballs were great and the burger was very good. Smorgas is a quaint little restaurant located in between a lot of pubs on Stone street. We got there by 12pm and it was empty and by the time we... More

Who knew Swedish meatballs could melt in your mouth? I toyed between Atlantic salmon and the meatball dish, but took the waitresses recommendation and she was spot on. Served with the creamiest of mashed potatoes and shredded beets with dill, it was wonderful. The atmosphere was suitable for an intimate romantic dinner or lively might out with friends - especially... More

This is a fair priced Scandinavian in the Stone Street area of Downtown Financial District. It is a bit of on outlier, as it's surrounded by pubs. But if you're looking for some great Swedish meatballs, and a crepe - it won't disappoint. My friend tried the Schnitzel and didn't fare as well. I've been to other Scandinavian restaurants that... One of the only restaurants in NY that let our dogs sit with us on the balcony outdoors. Staff is always a bit overworked - but the farm to table food is excellent. Try the Swedish Meatballs with the Stockholm Martini. Super nice.

I am sad to say that our Christmas Day experience was terrible. I live in NYC, and my family from Sweden came to visit me for the holidays, we wanted to spend Christmas Day eating a Swedish/Scandinavian Christmas julbord, and were very much looking forward to visiting Smorgas Chef. Unfortunately we were sadly disappointed, it was 4 of us and... More

Having previously visited Smorgas Chef and had a good experience, I decided to book here for Thanksgiving dinner given that I was in town. I have to say that I wish I hadn't, however... Upon arrival, the welcome from the hostess was rather curt and not overly friendly, a shame given the waiting staff were actually very friendly. The food... More

Small restaurant in the West Village tucked away on 12th Street with a focus on Scandinavian style. Unfortunately they were out of all the fish entrees, but the Swedish meatballs were very tasty and filling. The smorgasbord starter was excellent, and would be a good choice for a main course as well.

Our daughter found this restaurant and we went mainly for their Swedish meatballs. Very large portion (probably 10 or so good sized) with mashed potatoes and gravy and red cabbage. Delicious! Even made room for dessert (vanilla waffles). Fun place! They even have their own farm where they get their produce and meats.

A friend and I visited for brunch on a Saturday. We sat outside; great spot for people watching! Although the menu didn't have an overwhelming number of choices, we were both able to find a dish that we really enjoyed. I had the eggs florentine and not only was the dish delicious; the sides were amazing too! Prices were reasonable... More
