This was our second time visiting this bakery, from out-of-state. Again, we were absolutely delighted with the wide variety of fresh-baked goodies to choose from. With gluten and dairy allergies in our family, it's a pleasure to allow our children to choose WHATEVER treat they would like! Even those in our group without allergies enjoyed the goodies here. The cookies... More

I have the Babycakes cookbook and had a chance to visit the bakery. It did not disappoint. Pure Vegan indulgence. Thank you!

From the outside this place doesn't look like much, but it's a charming relaxed place with plenty of fun pastry options. There aren't many seats, but works well for a coffee break. Or if you just wanna pick something up. We went there because we heard it was vegan, and we had some cupcakes and donuts that were good but... More

We 'fell upon' this bakery on our way to the Tenement Museum and were so happy that we did. My friend had a piece of banana chip loaf and I had their mocha crunch donut - YUM on both accounts! The bakery is small, so it's not a comfortable place to sit for a long time, but it is definitely... More

If you are on a restricted diet this place is fun! Thankful it exists. My son ate a donut and a cupcake that we saved for after dinner! These treats are sweet. When you loose wheat, dairy, eggs other things must be added so sugar it is!

If you require gluten free and miss having a sweet treat every now and then, I highly recommend Erin McKenna's Bakery. I tried the vanilla cupcake- absolutely delicious, and the choc-chip cookie which was divine. The store is easily accessible via the subway and a short (5 minutes or less walk)

Wanted to try a "healthier" sweet option on our vacation and we found a good one! Off the beaten path in little Italy we really enjoyed our desserts. Donuts! Yum! And chocolate chip cookie sandwich was delish too. Frosted banana bread was our least favorite of the three desserts but still decent. Worth the trip!

My son is severely allergic to all dairy and tree nuts, and the only time he had ever eaten at a bakery was at Babycakes at DisneyWorld. This is the NYC location of that bakery so we took a special trip via the subway and let him order whatever he wanted! The bakery staff were very knowledgeable and helpful when... More

I have been wanting some Gluten free donuts and could not find a decent one anywhere. These were delicious! I also loved the mocha brownie cupcake. Top notch ingredients and yummy taste!

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
