I have to admit that the only thing I've had here is the chocolate chip cookie- but I have had it many times, and it never disappoints. Perfectly crispy outside, soft on the inside with delicious chocolate chunks, perfectly sweet. I have never reviewed anything based on one thing, but this cookie is something I'm still dreaming about, 2,500 miles... More

Went in while waiting for an appointment. The muffin was delicious and the people were friendly enough. Not sure why but the coffee didn't taste too good. Overall a decent place to grab a quick bite.

I love City Bakery. Everything on their salad bar is fresh and delicious. However, I went there today and their salad bar price has gone up to $19 a pound. Maybe this is a mistake, but if not, I think it is outrageous. Even for New York. Go there for coffee and the wonderful cookies and pastries. But be careful... More

This place was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in NYC. I found the food way too expensive, even by New York standards, and it wasn't worth all the hype. A handful of mac n cheese, although the tastiest food we got there, was ridiculous at $10. The baked items which I hoped would be the... More

So delicious. The hot chocolate was incredible. You must get the marshmallow they offer with the hot chocolate. So rich, we had to share. The brownie was delish. We didn't have any of the savory items, I'm looking forward to trying them next time. The restaurant was clearly busy but did not feel very crowded. The staff was very friendly.

Very popular coffee and bakery place not far from Union Square. It's big, open and extremely popular. The bakery is pretty good here. The coffee is okay. My only complaint is how loud it is, its deafening! Seating at times is hard to come by. One of the problems is a lot of people just stay and sit on the... More

Nothing wrong with the place and it seems very popular. Went for their famous hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows and was very disappointed. I'm not a HUGE chocolate fan but I love hot chocolate, my boyfriend however is a chocolate lover. This hot chocolate tasted like straight up melted chocolate chips with a shot of milk mixed in. Way too... More

The pretzel croissant is the best thing here and the chocolate chip cookies terrific. Don't fall for the "do you want a homemade marshmallow w/your hot chocolate" since it adds something like $4 to your drink! Lunch can be yummy and brunch too but they weigh your scrambled eggs which I found weird. Go early since lunch time is jam... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
