Hubby and I popped here after a friend recommended it and also based on the TA reviews. Cafe is small with about 12 seats, the lady behind the counter was quite frankly miserable. When I asked which cheesecakes were available she said "those in front...More

Delicious cheesecake and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this place as serving the best cheesecake ever.

We were so lucky to find it empty. The negative was that at that time the cheesecake options to choose, were quite limited. But the flavors were certainly there!

One of my favourite cheesecake ever in NYC. Small shop with crowd of peoples. Varieties of flavors are great. The size of cheesecake is really good, not too big! Moist and yummy. Recommend

Absolutely nothing bad to comment. Staff very friendly and the cheesecake is stunning. A bit on the pricey side but it's worth every penny. The shop is packed most of the times so be ready to wait about 5-10 minutes to be served. Limited space...More

The cheesecakes in Eileen's Special Cheesecake is very balanced. 1) The right size, which means it is not so large, leaving a slightly desire for another one. 2) Not very sweet in a very positive way. 3) Great value

We went in to try the best cheesecake in NYC. It was pretty good but not the best I have had. I did love that it was affordable. We went right when they opened at 9 so there wasn’t a line. Definitely check this place...More

Really good cheesecake with lots of choice in flavours but the only downside is you can’t buy a classic slice but only mini cheesecakes, if you want a slice you have to get a whole large cheesecake.

I had to go twice during my recent visit. It is the best cheesecake I have ever had. There are only a couple of tables so I would order to go.

Small place and seating is at counter top, which makes it challenging for those of us who are not tall. Location is far from where we wanted to see the sights but made it a point to go here. Chocolate cheesecake was delicious! not a...More

It's not a restaurant, it's a shop that sells cheescakes!

I do not know anyone who has done this, my guess is it is dependent on time in air and security... Easier to have shipped properly for a small fee.

Description
Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!
