We got a selection of cakes to go: a couple of mini plain cheesecakes, a peanut butter blast, a chocolate mousse and another chocolate cake. All of them were delicious. The girl will be dreaming of the cheesecake when back in London.

I typed in Best Cheesecake in New York and Eileen`s came up top and it didn't disappoint. Tracy and I walked round to Eileen`s from Johns Pizza place which we believed we were still full up from and intended to get a take out but once you`re in Eileen`s you are spoilt for choice and want to eat one straight... Perfectly sized mini cheesecakes that are fluffy and creamy! We got the strawberry and original ones. We were so full that we only ordered 2. Wish I could have tried other flavors.

Delicious mini cheesecakes at $3.80 each, not bad. Decent size mini cheesecakes with dozen, or 20 (?) flavors to choose from. Husband had the one topped with cherries, I chose the caramel and pecans. Both were light and rich. Great value. Only negative point is the "hole in the wall" feeling. There are about 20 spots to sit, we were... More

Cheesecake was so good! The variety was nice and large so it was hard to pick. The restaurant itself is so small. Luckily people come and go often enough that it helps. But if you are claustrophobic you might want to stay away. Unless your love of cheesecake is greater than your phobias, which it should be.

If you want to eat a real cheesecake in New York city, you have to go there. The cheesecakes are a lot, with different flavours and the greatest one!! The place is really small, so I suggest to take them away. We tried the mini cheesecakes and they are delicious. Each cost 3.50$.

Eileen's was our last stop in NYC before heading home. Based on reviews we wanted to make sure we visited before leaving and took our cheesecake with us. We had chocolate and marble. When we arrived back home after our 8 hour drive, we at the cheesecake which was just okay with a lighter texture than what we would prefer.... More

Fantastic. That is all I really wanted to write; however, TripAdvisor have set a minimum 100 characters. So I wrote that last part.

One of the most popular cheesecake place I have tried. I would definitely recommend the salted caramel cheesecake. It is slightly expensive for what it is, but then again what isn't expensive in new york.

Description
Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
